Will You Be Mine?

Chapter 21

Most of the car ride home was silent. I kind of wish it wasn't because that means I'm left alone with my thoughts.

I just don't see how they couldn't help her. They said they did everything. But did they? I guess I'll never know. How much more is going to go wrong?

"I have an idea. When we get back to your house, I'll cook you something to eat, and you can go relax." Ben said out of nowhere.

"Really?"

"Yes. One you deserve it, and two, I feel like making you something. Don't worry I'm not a bad cook. You haven't ate yet have you?"

"No." I said smiling.

"Good. And I got a smile. And we are here." He said pulling up to the driveway.

"Ok, so where is everything?" Ben asked as we got inside.

"Well, the pans are in the cabinet beside the sink. The can food is in the cabinet above the pans, and the box food is above the dishwasher. Then there is food in the fridge and freezer. The cabinets beside the fridge have the plates and bowls."

"Alright. Well go and do what you need to, and I'll let you know when I'm done."

"Okay, well then I'm going to go and get a shower." I said turning away to leave.

"Wait." Ben said

"Yes?" I said turning away.

He didn't reply, but instead pulled me into a hug.

"Now you can go." He said

When I got to my room I was left alone with my thoughts.

Why did she have to go? She didn't do anything wrong. Why did Avery have to be so stupid? I hope he knows that I'll never forgive him. He's the one that was drunk and then went and drove. Emma shouldn't have had to pay the price.

I just stood in the shower for about five minutes before I washed my hair and body. When I was done I got dressed and towel dried my hair. I brushed through it once, and went back to my room and just sat on my bed.

Then came the tears. I didn't want to believe it was real. Why couldn't this just be a dream? Why am I the one that has to lose the ones I love? What did I ever do?

"Hilary, is everything alright?" Ben asked

"Yes, everything is alright." I said wiping away the tears.

"No, I don't think it is. I can hear it in your voice. Can I come in?"

"Yeah."

He came in and joined me on the bed.

"Come here." He said holding his arms open.

I went to him, and instantly started crying. It was probably for a good 15 minutes.

"Did I do something wrong? I mean, I always lose the ones I love."

"No Hilary you didn't do anything wrong, so please don't blame yourself for this. Bad things happen to people who don't deserve it. You definitely don't deserve this. You have gone through enough."

Then it was silent for about five minutes.

"I'm sorry for always crying when you're here."

"No, don't be sorry. It happens and I'll be here for you." He said

I didn't know what to say. All I know is that this guy is amazing. Hopefully he'll stay around. I think I like Ben. No, I know I like him.

"Hey, the food is getting cold." Ben said pulling me out of my thoughts.
