Ch 2. The Giovanni Family

Matteo's POV

Matteo Giovanni was born 2 years before his sister, Rosalina. But with the way his mother carried on about her, it wouldn't matter if he was born 10 years after!
His father, Giuseppe had passed away only 14 months ago.. his poor mum, Aurora was taking his death, exceptionally hard. But given that "Her Rosalina is working 3 jobs to support her!" Oohh so what?! At least 'seppe didn't burden HER with an entire Italian Mob to run. Nor did he EVER expect her to work.
Well? FUCK THAT!

She CAN work, to support herself.
I mean, if push comes to shove, I WILL pay for Mum. But Rosalina can work. I don't know why Mum won't come and live with me! It would make all THIS easier!

AURORAS POV

Aurora (Matteo & Rosalina's Mum) was indeed a stubborn woman! In fact, she doesn't understand, why her children don't understand that she's had 50 years to perfect that stubbornness! (Where do they think they got it from?!)
Rosalina has been working her poor fingers to the bone, damn-near night and day, just to support her.
The knowledge is there, that she has a portable computer.
She tells her Mum she's been "studying online" and is suddenly qualified for new jobs.
A new job was gained, and it was, minimal hours, MUCH higher rate-of-pay, and better working conditions, with travel options!
Aurora isn't stupid, but she doesn't want to say anything out loud to upset the apple cart. Her daughter finally looks stress-free! V's, permanently stressed from working!

ROSALINA'S POV

Rosalina, feeling very happy with the improvements she has made to her life lately, is stress-free, and can outright purchase her mother a house/unit ANYWHERE in the world she wants it! But, they have gone from her having 3 jobs, to her being entirely too comfortable. Her Mum is bound to think she have a Sugar Daddy or something stupid!
Rosalinas' thoughts skipped to Matteo.
Why was he such a stubborn ass? He would allow Mum to move into his "bachelor-pad" in Pyrmont, but HER? No way!!

This Potts point house has been in their family for over 75 years. All that family history is not allowed to just be 'SOLD' to another family, or worse, Developers!
Rosalina sighed heavily to herself.
The rates, maintenance, bills, and all that was costing her a fortune to maintain.
But anything for her Mum to help her preserve her Dad's memory!
Thinking back further, she was reminded of a time when she was innocent. And not just of the body, but of the mind, too! Of a time when her Dad, Giuseppe, would gift her, her first gun.
When he trained her, to use it.
When he said "There May come a time when either Matteo or myself may not be here to protect you, or your mother. IF by some chance that happens?
It's YOUR job to make sure you keep my wife, your Mum, alive. Got it?
At 6 years of age, my wide emerald eyes almost shone with fear and tears. "No time for that crap, Bella Donna*, stay firm, stay strong, and squeeze those shots off!"
3 times a weeks, for over 6 years that's how Rosalina and her Dad would spend time together.
