Rosalina's POV
I had barely slept a solid 5 minutes through the entire night.
After my conversation with Mum last night, and running into Detective Yummy twice in one day... my mind is in overdrive.
I have his card. I have his mobile number.
I should be staying as far as possible away from the man. Yet every time I think of him, those deep blue eyes spring to mind. I just want to drown in them. Can I? Please? Forever!?!
Pacing the kitchen, I almost leap out of my skin when Mum slips into the kitchen unnoticed by me at first, and then the kettle clicks off, and Mum asks me if I'm making coffee, or taking coffee.
Once my heart UN-glues itself from my throat, and my blood pressure comes back down after such a huge fright, I tell my Mum (Aurora) that I am making coffee, and to sit at the table.
I make us both a coffee, and carry them over to the dining table where she is sitting.
In my jacket pocket, is Jack's crumpled business card. In between fantasies, I've been turning the card over in my pocket, contemplating what to do with it.
Do I call?
Do I text?
Do I program his number in and block it, in case he gets his hands on my details?
Those options all seem overwhelming. And yet completely tantalising at the same time.
So, again I turn to my Mum.
"Mum. The hot guy I can't get out of my head..."
Aurora was quick to respond "Did you call? Did he answer? Did you leave a message? Has he cal-"
"Mum!" I cut her off mid-question. "Calm down! Slow down! I was going to say.... I'm nervous. My hands are sweating. I keep overthinking things, and am also super worried about what Matteo may think. I honestly think this is a good guy. I don't want to ruin things before they 'properly' get going! You know?"
Aurora gathered my hands in her own, and as her aged thumb rubbed tender circles of calm on my palms, she looked deep into my eyes and said, "Darling! Don't be so quick to self sabotage! I think you will find he is far more interested than even you are! You haven't really dated much, admittedly. An overprotective father, then overbearing brother won't help that scenario, but let me tell you this. True love, a love that will last a lifetime, or until death? Will only be found once. And if you squander an opportunity because of nerves? Or because you were scared? You will end up bitter towards love for the rest of your life. Take a risk. Reach out. A life lived in fear is a life half lived!"
And with that Aurora kissed me on my cheek, grabbed her cup of coffee and headed back from where she came.
I pulled my mobile phone out of my back pocket. I punched in Detective Jack Johnson's details as a contact, saved it, then hit dial. I guess I will see if love is worth the hype!

🎶 A little ditty, about Jack and Diane 🎶

"FUCKERS!" Jack screamed out when he heard that ringtone. Again.
Clearly a sign the boys had gotten to his phone yesterday at some point.

"Good Morning, Detective Johnson, whatcha got for me?" Jack answered his phone utilising his bluetooth feature in his car, without bothering to look at the dialling number.
"Morning Jack, it's Leena. How's your day going so far?"
Jack's brain froze on the spot. It. Was. HER!
Leena.
She had decided to call after all!
"Uhm, yeah, ah, good?" Jack replied.
"Are you ok? Have I caught you at a bad ti-"
"Not at all! Jack hastened to cut her off. "I honestly just wasn't expecting you to ever actually call!" Jack quickly tried to finish.
"Oh?" Queried Leena.
"Oh." Surmised Jack.
"But I'll be truthful, I haven't been able to stop thinking about your heavenly emerald eyes. And if I'm not being too forward, may I take you out to dinner to get to know you better?" Jack followed up with Leena.
She paused, as if checking herself to see if it all was real, "Yes Jack, that would be lovely."
With all the timing of a crying baby, Jack's mobile phone's other line started beeping, "I'm sorry Leena, my boss is calling on the other line. Can I text you in about an hour to make some proper dinner plans?" Jack questioned.
Even though Jack couldn't see her, Leena was blushing madly.
"Oh! Sure Jack, not a worry! You have my number, now. So feel free to text me when you're free!"
"Thanks Leena"
"Bye Jack"
"Bye Babe!"
And with that they both hung up.
Both blushing at Jack's accidental
freudian slip of calling her 'babe'.

Rosalina had been pottering around the garden for what felt like hours! Yes logically, she knew it had only been precisely two and a half hours since she spoke to Detective Yummy... but his voice!
*insert Homer Simpson drool here* Mmmmm soooo tasty!
He said he would text or call when he had a chance. Maybe work was stupidly busy?
But as soon as she began to doubt that he would call/text, of course, her phone's text notification went off.
"Hi Leena, how does dinner tonight sound, at La Porchetta? Say around 7:30pm? I hope your having a great day! Jack."
Leena could barely contain her excitement, and promptly responded with, "Sounds great! I am! Same with you! See you then, Leena."

Sometimes, it would seem that the universe worked in mysterious ways! And sometimes? It dished up the most perfect just desserts! Or in this case, a delectably yummy man that Rosalina couldn't get out of her mind, who actually wanted to have dinner with her. "Life just doesn't get any better than this!" Rosalina excitedly thought to herself.
Then, at the prospects of drowning in his blue eyes again, Rosalina began to panic.
"What am I going to wear? I haven't shaved! I think I need a haircut! So much to do, yet so little time!"
And with those thoughts complete, Rosalina got on the phone and began to plan her afternoon of pampering, to make herself look as beautiful as possible.

Just as Rosalina was adding her earrings and then grabbing her perfume, there was a knock on the door. "He's early!" Rosalina thought to herself, and she headed towards the front door to open it.
Once she swung it open, she was greeted with the sight of Jacks blue eyes, a huge smile, a bunch of carnations and a box of Ferrero Rochers! The sight made Rosalina's heart skip a beat, and her breath skip in her throat. Especially when Jack followed his Early Grand Entrance up with "You look simply stunning Leena! You've taken my breath away!"
Rosalina blushed from the top of her head to the tips of her toes, as she shyly took the flowers, chocolates and compliment from Jack. "Why, thank you kind sir! You're looking mighty fine yourself!"
Then it was Jacks turn to blush.
"I'll just pop these in some water and we can go." said Rosalina as she sniffed the scent of the flowers on her way to the kitchen. "I adore carnations! They are my favourite! Did you know? Or simply guess?" Rosalina enquired.
Jack followed the sound of her voice to the kitchen to answer her question.
"No, I didn't know per se, but I did notice that smell coming off your hair when you saved me the other day, so I assumed it was a safe choice!" At these last few words, Jack's chest puffed out. Like he was super proud.
"Don't you know what it means to assume?" Rosalina asked Jack, and he shook his head no in response. "To ASSUME makes an ASS (outta) U(&)ME"
Jack's jaw dropped open.
"Careful there Jack, you may end up catching flies!" Rosalina chuckled. "Let's go grab some dinner! I'm famished!"

A/N ~
Hi guys!
I hope you enjoyed this chapter.
It was supposed to show how easy, and comfortable things could be between Jack and Leena.
The next chapter will be intense.
