Rosalina's POV

Sirens were already wailing in the distance as she dashed out her neighbors front door and into their yard.

Australian summers were usually acridly dry, but overnight had seen a smattering of rain. When Rosalina leapt off the neighbors front porch and onto the grass, she had been expecting dry grass and dirt for her toes to grab footing in, to take off for her mum's house.
"And Jack." A little voice popped up in the back in the back of her mind.

However upon her toes hitting the ground, they made a "sqwealching" sound in the mud before slipping, and Rosalina's entire body slid with her feet with a loud "splat!"

"Oof" was all that Rosalina managed.

Jack had been sitting on Auroras front porch and had watched the entire thing unfold. Once he saw Rosalina's feet start to slide, he was up and off like a shot to assist her.

"Are you OK?" Jack asked as he tenderly tried to help Rosalina to her feet.

"A tad sore, incredibly wet and a bruised ego. I'm fine. Haha." Rosalina blushed as she responded. "Did you find Mum? Is she ok?" Rosalina started to pepper Jack with questions as two police cars and an Ambulance pulled into Rosalina's driveway.

"Hold that thought my love, give me two minutes to explain to the Police who I am, and why I am here. I will be right back to explain everything to you, I promise." Jack said, and t hen sealed that promise with a feather light kiss on Rosalina's lips. "I'll be right back, ok?"

Rosalina sighed deeply, but then said "ok! You better keep that promise!"

Jack approached the officers as they were approaching Aurora's front door, with his badge in the air. "Officers! My name is Detective Jack Johnson of the NSWPD. My badge is here! Number 24783. Inside you will find Aurora Giovanni, who I believe was gunned down by the Italian Mafia. It's a mess in there boys, you will need the coroner."

One of the officers jumped on his radio to run Jack's badge number. The operator most definitely remembered Jack, and was able to describe him to a T.

"Yeah, I know Jack real well - if ya catch my drift." She said over the radio, making Jack blush.

"He's I dunno, like six foot three, maybe six foot four, beautifully tan skin, he's also we stacked - so clearly he works out... yummy! Jack in gym clothes, with that blonde hair and blue eyes. I'd take him home, fuck him senseless and make him my bitch. Why is this, fellas?" She finally queried.

By this stage, Jack was as red as a tomato, Rosalina's ears had pricked up to the conversation, and both the Officers and Paramedics in attendance felt particularly awkward regarding her rather graphic description.

"He's standing in front of me, with his badge at the scene with a dead body. We just needed confirmation that Jack was who he said he was. At least ten other people here in attendance and hearing distance alone just heard what you said. Disrespectful cow. Over!"
And with that, anyone and everyone there with a radio, Switched. It. Off.

Jack was moved, almost to tears. "Thanks guys, I appreciate the support. Full 100% disclosure, office party eight years ago... I... I.... I snogged her. I didn't root her, and I think that's why she does this, and says this. I'm actually so embarrassed, but so thankful at the same time."

By the time Jack had finished uttering these words, Rosalina had grown impatient, and slowly (having learned her lesson earlier) tiptoed across the last of the neighbors yard and her yard to her front door where she heard the words "I'm actually so embarrassed, but so thankful at the same time" come from Jack's lips.
