You Can Call Me Jelly

It was no secret how much Jellybean Jones despised Betty Cooper. From her perfectly fitted pastel pink wardrobe to her white picket fence she was everything young Jellybean hated.

Another thing Jellybean hated was how nice she was, to nice.

Like she was on her deathbed nice,
she would joke.

She never thought about the irony in those words.

Betty got sick this year, leukemia Jughead says. Jellybean remembers her brother coming home screaming that night.

How broken he was screaming the blonde girls name.

"It'll be okay Juggie" she tried soothing, she should've known he would just push her away.
He only let one person in anyways.

So Jellybean was sent back to her plain-walled room, like an institution for some insane freak.

She felt guilty, judging Betty for all those years.
Was this her karma? She thought,

No, but it should've been.

Betty, sweet Betty, all she'd do was try to break Jellybean's iron walls with no avail.

"Jelly I made cookies! Want some?"

Jellybean scoffed, rolling her eyes at the hyper blonde. "Jelly is only for my friends and family. You're neither Betty, even if a ring is on your finger"

Betty's face twisted for a moment, letting just a second of embarrassment though before a smile graced her lips. "Oh alright Jellybean it's okay, I'll just leave them here while I- get Juggie."

Maybe it was jealousy but she always hated when she would call her brother Juggie, it brought back memories far to precious for Betty to bring up. She wasn't there to experience them, so she shouldn't act like she was.

She wasn't there for Jughead when mom left, or when dad got sick. She barely does anything for Jughead now even, he doesn't deserve her.

It wasn't until that night that jellybean realized how badly her brother needed Betty to stay alive.

Jughead raced him and Jellybean to the hospital the following morning, anxious to see his wife and make sure she was okay.

They were sat next to eachother in the waiting room, watching the clock for 8:15, when Betty would be freed from this personal isolated hellhole.

"So If Betty dies..." Jellybean started, before realizing her blunt mouth was about to get her in trouble. "...does that mean we won't have to visit her bitch mom again?" She joked, a cheeky smile on her face.

She watched for Jughead's reaction but his expression was hard to read, hurt and also annoyed at the same time. Annoyed? She thought, at what?

"Just shut your mouth Jellybean." Jughead said through gritted teeth, "you already give Betty enough shit when she's fighting as hard as she can. I can't believe my own sister has no fucking respect"
