“No!” the werewolf swatted him aside and clawed out the throat of the girl, Faldrus ran out of the house, he was seriously injured. He ran through the crisis and head to the hills, others followed but were picked off one by one until other two men remained with him.
“Are they coming?” a roar answered the question but as they turned to run. There stood the alpha, a man with red glowing eyes, hair, fangs and claws.
“Run!!” Faldrus shouted and the Alpha leaped for them.
“Ahhhh!” he woke up sweating to find out that it was just a nightmare of what actually happened; Iziuel ran in to check on him.
“Are you alright?” She asked as she entered.
“Yes, Ughh” he groaned as he sat and laid his feet on the wooden floor. He pushed himself up on his feet, Iziuel came to help but he refused; with shaky legs he walked out of the room with Iziuel flanking him in case he falls off the stairs.
“You know you are not thoroughly healed, right?” Iziuel asked as they got to the main door.
“I feel fine”, he said and opened the door; in front of the house, the plump man was coming out of the fields.
“Look who is awake” he joked and came to Faldrus. He cleaned his hands with a towel. “Am Turgon,” He extended a handshake Faldrus took it and gave it a firm shake.
“Faldrus”
The man broke the hand shake and said, “Mind to join us for breakfast? You haven’t ate a thing for three days with today on the arithmetic and I can say you haven’t ate a thing in the past three days” He led Faldrus to a shed behind the house.
There were two sheds, one served as the kitchen/Dining room while the larger other was used as the barn and workshop. They entered the smaller one and sat around the table. Around the table was Turgon’s family of 6. Faldrus sat at the end of the table, as they all sat Turgon said, “This is my mother, Ithirae…” he said gesturing to an older woman knitting at his left hand side.
“How are your wounds?” Ithirae asked.
“Fine thank you, your hands worked magic” Fladrus said and the older woman smiled
“I am truly glad I could help”, she said before going back to her knitting
“…and this is my wife, Elaria” he gestured to the beautiful woman sitting at his right hand; Faldrus greeted her with a smile, she nodded and smiled.
“…and my children, Iziuel, Braern and Little Taena” he gestured to the children all as he spoke, Iziuel was about his age, Braern was a boy in his late teens, and Taena was just entering her teens.
“I thank you all for saving me”, he appreciated
Turgon laughed, “You were one tough nut, and anyone could have died from that much injury”, the meal was served and they all had a nice meal.
As Turgon left the shed Faldrus followed behind; Turgon headed for his fields and stopped at its edge looking over it all and towards the horizon. Faldrus stood beside him.
“I can’t repay you enough”, he said
“You don’t need to”
“I truly want to; may I join you… here, working the fields?” Faldrus asked.
“You don’t need to repay me” Turgon said facing him
“But I want to; I want to feel some sense of closure, please, let me, I will work for the meal, anything” he pleaded
Turgon smiled, “Fine”, he said looking back at the horizon; as he looked back at the horizon he saw about 30 different humans coming towards the fields, although they are not more than unclear figures, Turgon became alert. “Do you see that?” He pointed towards them.
Faldrus squinted his eyes to focus, the group was led by five different people; his eyes went wide open with realization. “Turgon?”
“Yes”, the older man said
“We need to get out of here, now!”
“What, what do you see? What are they?”
“Wolves, Werewolves, 5 different packs of them” Faldrus said with fear in his eyes
“Is that even possible? Fear not, Faldrus, my land is protected by powerful enchantments against supernatural beings that has been reinforced over time, even if they try, it will take days, perhaps weeks to break it”
“Well, then I suggest we start packing” Faldrus said as he went towards the house and Turgon tagged along.
***************************************************************************************
Ripping apart the deer, Ralnor ate the whole thing within seconds and immediately took flight again to continue his tracking. The scent shows a number of packs are trailing the last survivor but they have not gotten him yet. Good, he can find the last survivor and find out what happened, if anyone led the attack. And probably take the survivor to Rivleam to tell the King himself.
As he was flying at his cruising speed his eyes caught a glint afar, he increased his speed and saw the wolf packs. Five alphas, 4 males and 1 female, each with at least 7 pack members. He lessened his altitude but none of them even noticed the huge bulky figure that was diving at incredible speeds.
“This magic wall won’t save you for long”, the 1st alpha told Faldrus who held a sword and stayed just few meters away from the boundary.
“It will hold for as long as possible”, Faldrus responded, “and if it breaks, I will kill you all myself”
“And exactly how do you expect to kill us with a sword?” the female alpha asked
“Lanced with a concoction of Aconite, mistletoe, Rowan and a couple of enchantments, I hear it will kill you faster than you can move” Faldrus threatened as he brandish the sword.
The alpha that had attacked him before laughed, “That is if you can move fast enough for you to actually use it”
Faldrus’ eye caught sight of a hulky figure gliding towards the wolves from behind them, his feet moved backwards with one step at a time.
“Did I scare you?” the alpha taunted.
Faldrus ran back to the house shouting for Turgon to run. Turgon, who was in the attic of the house overseeing the event with his personal sniper bow, ran from the attic when he also saw the huge beast from the sky.
The wolves wondered about what could cause it, when they turned to look at what caused the commotion, they froze with fear.
Ralnor landed with a roar, the wolves cowered in fear and even their alphas couldn’t move for a minute or two.
“Run!!” the female alpha cried and they all took to their heels; with a roar Ralnor killed them all even before they could go far or escape. When he finished the last of them he transformed into his human form.
Faldrus was watching from afar, he asked Turgon, “a Drengrin? Will he be able to enter?”
“I don’t know, Drengrins are very powerful and their extent of power is quite misunderstood, but still that boundary will prevent any supernatural being from crossing” Turgon replied.
Ralnor stopped at the shield, at first he didn’t pass through he scraped the shield with his claws, but when he saw that Faldrus was not running or anything, he walked right through the shield like it wasn’t even there.
Faldrus and Turgon gasped; as Ralnor got closer, Turgon raised his sniping bow and pointed it at Ralnor.
“Stop right there!” He ordered but Ralnor didn’t listen.
“Don’t even bother shooting, even projectiles and bolts that move faster can’t pierce or touch me”, Ralnor warned and stood few meters from them.
Turgon lowered it and said, “What do you want here? It is my land, I own it”
“I came for the young man” he said looking at Faldrus
“Why?” Turgon asked, this time he pointed the sniper again.
“He survived an assassination; he was an eye witness and is needed at Rivleam, just to tell the King what exactly happened”
“You saw what happened, it was not an assassination, it was a holocaust, a massacre, no one survived” Faldrus lamented
“Except you” Ralnor said, “You saw it happen, the King wants to know what happened”
“How do we know you don’t want him dead as well?” Turgon asked still pointing the sniper
“I hear 5 heartbeats in that house, and the scent of their blood says they are your family, one older woman, three children and your wife”
Turgon was shocked, “”Do you think anything can stop me from going in and killing them if I want to?” Ralnor asked and Turgon lowered the weapon in defeat.
“What about us? The dangers around ‘ere increase by the day” Turgon asked
“You all won’t make it to the nearest Kingdom before you run into death, get into the house, all of you” Ralnor ordered and they all went in closing the door.
Ralnor faced the horizon and took a deep breath; he raised his hands in spread it towards the sky, he chanted, “Rusur susulur ner jorad, Rusur susulur ner jorad, susulur ner ke’gyce, shaadlar the olar broker ogir” Dust whirled around Turgon’s land, with the rise of Ralnor’s voice, the dust whirled faster, “…shaadlar the olar broker ogir, susulur ner ke’gyce!” the dust covered everything and when it calmed down, Ralnor stood there with a smile. The horizon was now the wall of Rivleam; Turgon and his family ran out of the house, gasping at how they were moved to the Kingdom of Rivleam within seconds.
“Impossible, you…you moved…you moved the entire land” Turgon marveled
“It’s been long since I used that spell, I hardly use spells anymore”
“I heard of this spell but it was dangerous and the caster will die from the energy expended” Ithirae said in wonder “Entire covens can’t even manage to cast it”
“I am a Drengrin, we are immortals; such spells won’t even drain us of energy” he told the old woman.
Guards who saw the impossible appearance alerted others as they quickly addressed the situation. The guards swarmed at them shouting orders, after they were surrounded, their Captain came to them, “Who are you?” he asked with his sword drawn.
Ralnor turned to face him, “Lord Ralnor, forgive me, I didn’t…” The Captain trembled but Ralnor just waved away the apology.
“Forget it, I want this family under this Kingdom’s protection and if anyone wishes to challenge the reason why they are here or why they now own this piece of land, let them come to me” with that he held Faldrus’ arm and flew away towards the palace.
