Chapter Two
I wake up to my alarm blaring. I turn around and slam my fist on it five times. I missed all five times. I finally opened my eyes and seeing the clock. 5:40 AM. I mean I love mornings. But I can’t have anyone or anything wake me up. I will kill someone in the morning. Not having enough energy to get out of bed, but enough to kill you. Such a life hack. I eventually get up and practically crawl to my closet. I grab my pink t-shirt, tube top bra, and black capri leggings. I look under my bed for my red wedges adidas.
“Kaiya! I’m going for work!”
I run downstairs, still kinda limping from banging my ankle into the staircase.
“Mom wait!!”
She turns around quickly.
“Kaiya what’s the problem?”
“Did you sign the permission slip for the trip tomorrow?”
Her eyes move to the table, obviously missing the pink slip. She goes to get a pen, and signs the paper.
“There you go. And here’s thirty bucks. I don’t know if you’ll see me tonight or tomorrow. Have fun on your trip.”
I looked at her with a confused look.
“What do you mean I won’t see you?”
“I have a business trip to go to.”
She points to her carrying bag. All I can do is nod my head. She runs out the door, and starts the car. She waves bye to me, and I wave back. What can I do about this? Ever since she and Dad separated, she’s seem to be working 24/7. I hardly saw her. And if I did, it was her either leaving for work, or she going to bed. You can say I’m used to it, but sometimes I wish Dad never left. If it wasn’t for that, probably Mom wouldn’t be working so much.
I go back upstairs, and get my bookbag, I look in the mirror making sure my outfit is okay and my hair is at least decent. I want to at least be noticed especially in school. Not for my awesomeness, my kindness, or weirdness. I want to be noticed in a way like “You look pretty.” I never get those compliments. Not even from my mom. My best friends yeah, but they don’t count. They’re kinda forced to say that.
But whatever.
I go to the kitchen, and eat the eggs and bacon that were on the table. A note was beside it:
I made some eggs and bacon for you before you leave. I won’t see you for about a week and the weekend. Business trip. But don’t worry. The new neighbors will be watching you, and even invited you to sleep over if you want. Don’t worry. I know you’re thinking “What? We don’t even know those people.” but surprise Laura was someone I went to middle school and high school; best friends actually. So you’re safe. Be a good girl for me. I love you.
☺❤ Mom
I stared at the paper with my mouth open. Not only will I be sleeping over with neighbors I hardly know, I’m sleeping over at ALEX’S HOUSE. Fate is good. Fate is good. I finish my eggs and bacon, grab my bookbag, and leave the house making sure I have my keys and I lock the door. I grab my phone, put on You Make Me Sick by Egypt Central. I put in my earphones, and jam to it.
“Telling me to think,
About the times that you were cruel and mean,
And I don't care if you walk away,
I'm here to stay and you need to hear,
You make me sick!,
