I groggily woke up.
I felt a pulse of strong pain on my eye and shooting up my leg.
Ignoring it, I limped my way out of my room. Caught off guard when I see Xavier on the couch.. awake, staring up at the ceiling.
I had totally forgotten he was here.
His head quickly snaps my way. "Where are your crutches?"
I lazily wave him off as I limped my way to the bathroom.
Peeing, then brushing my teeth. I quickly limped my way back into my room. It seemed pretty comical to Xavier who watched with an amused smirk.
Getting dressed in regular attire of a white t-shirt, light skinny jeans and vans, I grab my prescription off my drawer as the pain increases.
I grab my keys and begin to limp towards the front door.
"Elli, Where are you going? You're not going to drive...Hello?.. Elli what-"
"Stop calling me that." I snap.
I keep my eyes strained on the door.
"I can't walk, I can barely see from my right eye. I'm in freaking pain. I just need to get these things from the pharmacy." I wave the prescription at him turning around.
He held a worried expression.
"I'm sorry." He says in a small voice.
I'm not sure what he's actually saying sorry, is it because he keeps calling me Elli or because of the reason I now hate it when he calls me Elli.
"Grab your crutches and let me drive you." His soft tone catching me by surprise.
I just snapped on him and he acted as if it didn't happen and apologized.
I sigh and slowly nod while looking down at the ground and heading back to my room to get my crutches.
He slid on his black timberlands before following behind me to the elevator and helping me into his car.
"Which one is it?"
"Milly's Pharmacy." I respond looking out the window.
I could slightly see him glancing my way every now and then, so I was glad when we got there and I was able to get out of that space with him.
I waited half an hour before they gave me my medication.
As I walk out, he's standing by his car door.
As he sees me he opens it up for me so I can easily slide in. I do. We begin to drive again and I see he takes a different turn.
"Uh... where are we going?" I raise an eyebrow.
"Santanas Bakery" he states.
I look down at my phone.
It's seven fifteen in the morning.
Wow. We barely slept and that was the only reason Jessie was still asleep. She seems to always wake up before me.
"It's a thirty minute ride... for food." I state as he nods.
"Yea. But I also remember how much you use to love it and even do a happy dance while eating, and if I'm not mistaken, you seem like you some happiness spread on to you because you look..." He scrunches up his nose and shakes his head while I slightly pushed him as I laughed.
"Thank you." I let out which clearly catches him off guard.
"For what?" He's able to blurt out.
"For being there last night. For staying the night. For bringing me here.... Thank you for caring." I can't look him in the eye as the words leave my mouth.
His gaze is strong on me.
"I've always cared about you."
I scoff.
"Oh give me a break. You know what.. let's not do this."
He gets serious as he is already half way to Santanas Bakery.
"I do, and I did back then. You were just too stubborn to notice."
"Was I? Because all I remember was her tongue down your throat and your dick up in her soo.."
He tenses up.
"You're right... Let's not do this now." His jaw clenched and his gaze was focused on the road.
I rolled my eyes as I looked back out the window.
~
I unlocked the door and we walked in to find Jessie scrolling through channels with a smug look."Hey. We brought breakfast." I say while Xavier waves the bag as her eyes lit up.
"It's from Santana!" She squeals.
Her lip is much more swollen than yesterday. My heart aches as we hand her the bag with her food.
I make my way to the refrigerator as Xavier takes a seat besides her and begins to eat his food.
Grabbing a zip lock bag I fill it up with ice and close it.
"Here." I toss is towards Jessie, which she catches.
She let's out a very jumbled thanks.
She keeps the ice on her lip as she chews.
"You going to church today?" Jessie ask as she finishes up her food.
Do I really want to go.. looking like this? Everyone will be asking questions and I don't feel like answering of them.
"No, I'm staying home. Maybe have a movie night?" I suggest as she nods.
"Would.. you like to stay?" I awkwardly ask Xavier.
He seems to be contemplating something.
"I'm sorry I can't. I work tonight." Jessie and I nod.
"But... I have to go. I hope you guys get better and, if anything, Jessie you have my number."
My eyes shoot towards Jessie.
Her eyes stay focused on him.
He glances one time back at me before walking out of the apartment.
"You have his number?" My eyebrow is raised as she looks up at me.
"He gave it to me while you went to bed."
And it's like if she reads my mind.
"We were playing iMessage games Elpída. Wanna see? I beat him like five times at pool" she laughs while pulling her phone out.
