Hello, Readers ~
To those who aren't familiar with my work, I'm usually known for writing Hetalia fanfiction based on the 50 States of America. But as anyone taking a look at this book can see, this isn't about America.
In one of my books, I discussed my thoughts on the Canadian Provinces & Territories. While I acknowledged their interaction with my 50 States OCs, I had doubts on ever creating OCs personifying them or having them interact in my 50 States fanfiction, mainly out of concern for the amount of work I had to do. Thus, I ended my thoughts on the Canadian Provinces & Territories on that note.
... Yet, I changed my mind.
It all started when I was doing research on Acadia, a French-Canadian division with connections to Maine and Louisiana. As I was making an OC based on Acadia, I also learned about their relation to other Canadian provinces such as Nova Scotia and Quebec. Over time, I made OCs of these provinces considering they were involved to an extent in a state's history. At that point, I decided to make OCs on all the Canadian Provinces & Territories, all of whom I decided to list in their own separate book.
It's possible I may create some fanfiction on the Canadian Provinces & Territories. When I do, I'll be sure to list them in a separate page of this book, notifying anyone to go check those works out. Of course, I'm busy writing 50 States fanfiction in addition to other stuff, so it may be awhile until I do. For now, I'll have them make occasional appearances in my 50 States fanfiction.
Before diving into this book, I want to acknowledge some peculiar things as I was making my Canadian Provinces & Territories OCs:
- These OCs have their own unique first and last human names. The exception to this rule are the territories who are given the surname 'Williamson' due to being a part of Canada. I would've gave them aboriginal surnames, however, information of the subject on the Internet was nearly nonexistent. While I did see some surnames, I didn't want to use them without knowing what they mean. Hopefully everyone understands my reasons for giving them those names.
- Their human ages, compared to my 50 States OCs, were an unusual decision on my part. Most of them are around Canada's age (teens and young adults). As for the territories, they're younger than the provinces due to a lack of economic and population development. Overall, Quebec is the oldest at 22 years old while Nunavut is the youngest at 7 years old.
- Compared to other creators' character sheets, mine contain some unique categories that suit me in my opinion. For example, I hate having multiple categories to describe their appearance; I prefer simplicities over details. As such, the 'notable traits' category is basically a summarized description of the most important traits on the character.
- Speaking of unique categories, one that's especially unique is their favorite foods/drinks. These food items are known cuisine that either originated from the province/territory or are popular items in the region. For fairness sake, I limited this category to about five food/drink items for each province. I know there are more regional foods, however, I didn't want to go overboard with the category. Just know I did my research on the subject. Also, some may be wondering why I even include such a category. From past experiences with my 50 States OCs, the category is quite a popular subject in the comments.
- The images I found to describe these OCs aren't accurate in some aspects. This is especially notable for my Canadian Territories OCs for there weren't many 'anime' aboriginals I could find that match their descriptions. As such, I was forced to use apps to design their appearances which even then are still limited in design. Overall, I'm content with most of their designs.
On a final note, I want everyone to know these OCs aren't perfect. I did research on their histories, cultures, and stereotypes in addition to my interpretation of their personalities. Of course, it's important to know I'm a dumb American. I don't know the entire history of Canada, nor am I aware on everything related to Canada. I'm sure there are Canadians who disagree with my interpretation on a particular province/territory. I don't mind changing these OCs to make them better representations of that region. But to anyone making comments and suggestions, remember to be respectful for these are my OCs. What I do with them is my final decision.
Overall, I hope these OCs on Canada's Provinces & Territories are well-liked. Hetalia fanfiction based on them is rare from what I can find. Having seen few OCs based on the group, I wanted to give them some attention since they, too, are as interesting as the States of America. And who knows. If this book gets popular, I may start writing short stories on them.
As always, thanks to anyone giving this character guide a read. As a Hetalian, I say: PASTA ~
