Celine Dion's Ave Maria fades away as I eventually reach Nathan's side. He looks at me and I know he's beyond happy. He smiles warmly, yet I can't really perceive it—all I'm able to think is that his smile is nothing like Luke's. Nathan grabs my hand and we both stare at the man in front of us.

The priest is short and chubby, and he is dressed in clerical clothing. "Dear beloved, you have come together today..."

I stop listening. I just stand there and stare. It is an empty stare because, on the outside, I'm still pretending. In my mind, however, I'm not pretending anymore. I think how Luke is doing: Is he nervous? He probably isn't. They have already toured everywhere. This is a piece of cake.

I wonder if a lot of people will attend. I remember that every media outlet was astonished to find out it was a sold-out show. Of course it would be. They are 5 Seconds of Summer.

Nathan makes me come back to reality when he grabs both of my hands, just in time for the big questions that will change the three of our lives: Nathan's, Luke's and mine.

"Nathan James Parker, do you take Allison Hailey Gray to be your wife? Do you promise to be faithful to her in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health, to love her and honour her all the days of your life?"

His answer doesn't come as a surprise. "I do."

Afterwards, the priest looks at me, and I know everyone does, too. I can feel their eyes on me, each pair burning holes in my skin—they are all waiting for me to do as I should.

"Allison Hailey Gray, do you take Nathan James Parker to be your husband? Do you promise to be faithful to him in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health, to love him and honour him all the days of your life?"

I look at Nathan. He waits there, expectantly yet trustfully—he believes in me, he thinks I'm going to do the 'right' thing. His face tells me that he has already promised to give me his heart and all of him a long time ago, but I can't accept them. Neither can I do this to him, to Luke or to myself... I can't keep pretending forever.

"Miss Gray, do you need me to repeat the question?" The priest says.

With a shook of my head, I unlinked my hands from his. A loud, collective gasp was heard before I uttered: "I'm sorry. I can't do this. I need to go. I'm so sorry."

And I run.
