Chi couldn't fully work out how she had managed to survive such a fall. Sakura wasn't one of the strongest young woman out there. Maybe she had a soft landing? No, the ambulance found her lying on the ground, a pool of blood surrounding her pale body, staining her blonde hair. It seemed that a tint of red was still noticeable, even as Chi sat next to her. She then came to the conclusion that Sakura was lucky.

She examined her friend thorougly, but being careful not to touch her. Almost every inch of her was either covered up in casts or bandages, or beaten to the bone. Sakura looked appalling, so horrific that her state would make a normal person shiver away.

But Chi wasn't normal.

She was a detective, an unofficial detective. She solved her own cases, she didn't need the police on her side. She was just as smart as them. She was probably even smarter, and could probably solve a case before then. Chi didn't need them. She didn't need anyone.

"Chi...tan...da," Sakura managed to whisper out. Chi grabbed Sakura's hand, and squeezed it slightly. It didn't hurt, because her whole arm was in a white cast. "Chi...I...I..."

"Chiyoki-san?" Chi said. Sakura didn't respond. She had probably fallen asleep. Chi sighed, kissed her forehead, then made her way out of the ward. "Aw, I didn't even get to ask her any questions." She said disappointed.

Chi didn't know wether Sho Takizawa was alive or dead. She suspected that he was still also ve, but in hiding. However, he could be dead, suicide, in grief of his beloved Sakura. Chi didn't know, but she needed to.

Before she went home, Chi grabbed the newspaper and a coffee, and sat down on a park bench. She was just about to take a sip of her coffee when her phone started ringing.

"Hello, this is Chitanda."

"Chi!"

It was Yoko. Chi rolled her eyes, then took a sip of her coffee.

"Hello Yoko. How did it go?" Chi asked.

"Um, I introduced myself! But I still don't know his name. Sad face."

"Emotionless face. Oh no."

"Aw, come on Chi! Don't be like that! I thought you would be happy for me, y'know, finding a guy at last!"

"Of course. Look, I've got to go. Bye."

"Chi wa-"

Before Yoko could finish, Chi had hung up and stuffed her phone back in her pocket. Once again, Chi rolled her eyes and opened up her newspaper. She read a couple of pages whilst finishing her coffee.

Her phone kept on ringing, but Chi knew it was Yoko wanting to pester her again. Chi ignored her, and made her way to her tiny apartment in a block of flats. She thought about Yoko, and how she ever managed to become her friend in the first place.

It was the last year of high school, and Chitanda was walking down the hallways of the school, saying goodbye to teachers and classrooms. She then accidentally stumbled over something, and that something happened to be Yoko. She was sitting down, crying her heart out.

And that's when Chi realised, that it was her that made Yoko this way. She had given her encouraging words (in a harsh way, mind you) and since then they had become best friends. Though of course, Chi always remembered Sakura.

It was so strange. One day, they were sitting down by a tree eating lunch together, and the next Chi was sitting on her own.

She was determined to find out why Sakura had attempted suicide, and for some strange reason, Chi had a feeling it had something to do with the mysterious boy that Yoko was visiting.
