If they only knew, but at least now I believe I despised Leo as much as they did and now I prayed I wouldn't have a run in anytime soon with them.

I nodded, leaning back in my seat and dragging my index finger across my bottom lip. I wanted to seem more matter-of-fact about it and I hoped no one would ask more.

"I still can't believe them showing up like that and denting your ride," Marty said motioning towards Kenickie.

What? Of course.

That comment that seemed to touch a sore spot among the guys.

I can easily think back to riding up to Rydell knowing nothing god would come from it. I remember when he got that hot rodder chariot of his covered in black flames. The first few nights and weekends following he took me out on hour long rides full of chain smoking. He'd cruise up to the school even if I'd beg, "Please no trouble tonight". No matter how much I pulled on his collar, nothing could come between this rivalry. I never understood but I guess I was a ride-along. I sat back staying out of it always, slouched down into the passenger seat.

"Yeah. Well, we're gonna be fixing her up tomorrow after school," Kenickie said trying to shake the early memory of this happening. He leaned back in his seat. The other boys did too looking at him with doe eyes almost to mimic whatever he would do next. They looked up to him and I could see that. He had that kind of effect Balmudo had.

"You comin' to the dance?" The blonde one asked. It was gonna take me a bit to remember these boys names, or nicknames I should say.

"You really should! It's gonna be quite the big deal!" Frenchy tells me.

"Well, I guess. We'll see." I put on an easy going smile.

"Oh Kat," Rizzo pushed and swipe a powder puff across her cheek. "If you wanna come over tomorrow us girls will be over at Marty's. We can help you find something to wear."

"So what's up with now bringing the new girls to your house for one of your little get-togethers?" Sonny wiggles his eyebrows, getting up from the table. Kenickie called the T-birds outside for a smoke.

"You can thank that one over there." Rizzo points to Frenchy across the table.

"We really don't get that many new girls at Rydell!" Frenchy shrugs. "When I found Kathryn over here, Patty was about to eat her for lunch."

"We sure don't need any more of those girls around." Riz continues, "You won't believe what happened the first time we invited Sandy over!"

Frenchy threw a napkin at her. "Hush!"

They told me the story of when Frenchy wanted to pierce Sandy's ears and Sandy immediately got sick. I was even more surprised when Rizzo got her to drink and take a sloppy puff from one of the girls' cigarette. Apparently she was caught making fun of the square while she was getting sick in the bathroom. She was persuaded to join the cheerleading squad and now was tellingly nervous about their first game next Friday after her fall at her first pep rally.

I almost felt bad about how much mainly Rizzo, Jan, and Marty told me about "Sandra Dee". Frenchy just tried to defend her beautician skills.

"I guess I can come over," I pull at a few pieces of my dark hair near by face.

"After hearing that, doesn't it sound like a party?" Jan laughed.

"And Frenchy," I added. "Wanna do my hair sometime?" I lifted the long dark hair from my back.

"Oh sure!" She was so enthralled she nearly clapped and stood.

I was blown away to see 3.3K reads logging on today. Thank you all so much. I really do see every vote and view and it feels great when I am currently dealing with so much but have decided to use this as an assignment for my Advanced Literature and Composition class so that I have to get this finished. My living situation isn't the best as I was almost kicked out on my 18th birthday yesterday but writing and reading are some of the best things I know to do that help my anxiety. I've been cooped up in bed absolutely sore from the panic attack I had so I have some chapters finished.
