Kousei's POV
I sat in our living room of our house waiting for Kaori to come home.
Kaori came through the door with her blazer unbuttoned and her bun that had been neat this morning.
Papers were in her hands along with a large stack of folders.
I got up as she slid off her high heels.
"Let me take some of those." I said
Kaori and I had been married a year now.
I took the folders from her arms as she set her briefcase down.
"Don't lose those they're important." She said
Kaori had recently finished law school.
She worked a lot though she brought in a lot of income.
We sat down to a take out dinner.
"So Tsubaki and Watori are having another baby." Kaori brought up
"Wow already." I said
Kaori smiled and put her arms around my neck.
I kissed her and she kissed back but stopped.
"I am too tired to do that." She said and smiled
"I have folders to go through." She said
I got her some tea as she worked accidentally tripping and tea landing on the folders.
"Sorry! Sorry! Sorry!" I said
Kaori gave me a death stare and I backed away.
"You're not sorry." She said
I gasped in my head.
This wasn't the Kaori I knew.
She was usually so calm and collective.
"What's wrong?" I asked
"What's wrong?! What's wrong?! You ask that!" She said
"Ummmm yes." I said and gulped
"What's wrong is I work from five to six weekly I barely get to see my loving husband when I'm at home because I'm constantly thinking about work. And when I'm at work I'm constantly thinking of home." She said calmly
"That's why I think I should quit. I know the pay is good-" I cut her off
"Are you insane?" I said
"No its just I want to spend time with the baby when its born." She stated
"Well it isn't born yet!" I said
I mentally slapped myself.
Baby. She said baby.
"Are you-?" I said raising an eyebrow
She smiled and nodded.
I hoisted her up in my arms and kissed her over and over.
"I'm glad you are as happy as I am." She said
"I already told my boss I'm quiting. Just for a little bit."
We fell asleep in each other's arms.
"Violet." Kaori mumbled in her sleep
I smiled and kissed her forehead before falling asleep as well.
