"Kaori! I'm home!" I yelled coming in
Kaori sat on the couch our two week old daughter in her arms.
Flowers, violets at her request, were all around her.
Violet Evergarden Arima was what we named our daughter.
"Welcome home." She smiled
I took my daughter in my arms as she slept.
"I'm gonna go take a shower I'll be right back." She said and kissed me
I kissed back.
Over the 5 minutes that Kaori was gone Violet cried and cried for her mother.
Kaori came out of the bathroom,hair dripping wet, in PJ's.
"I'm here. I'm here." She said and I gave Violet back to her
Kaori sang a sweet lullaby to make Violet fall asleep.
"Constant as the stars above always know that you are loved and my love shining in you will help you make your dreams come true."
I joined her in the nursery as Violet slept innocently.
"Good job babe." I said and put my arm around her as we stood over the crib
"Same to you too." She smiled
"Honestly you did the most work." I said
"But you gave me her and I am thankful." She said and kissed me
"As I am for you."
And as I held Kaori I realized I had all I needed right in front of me.
A beautiful wife.
And a daughter who would one day run in fields of the flowers she was named after.
