Ella's POV

Dear Diary, 11-14

Last night I had a dream about a boy. I met him at the bus station and I was happy with him. It was mad weird because I usually have to get on and off buses and trains whenever I'm at that dirty ass train station. We live in the Bronx so we can't expect no decent shit.

I don't know why but ever since I woke up that's been heavy on my mind. Mostly because I normally don't pay no attention to none of them raggedy ass boys. I guess I'll have to see what happens before I go to school and before work. I remember so clearly, he was tall, light skin and hella tats, I wanna hurry up and get there so I can see if this dream I had is real. I hope so because-

"ELLA! WHAT the hell are you doing? You're supposed to be going to the station for school instead of writing in that damn book!" My Mama busted in my room.

I closed my diary and slid it in my bookbag. "Sorry Ma." I mumbled.

"It's okay." she sighed, fixing my uniform shirt collar. "Have a good day."

I left the house and walked down the street to the bus station. Just as I got there, I saw the bus leaving.

"No." I rushed after it but it left. I sighed and rubbed my face, the next bus wouldn't come for another 45 minutes, and that would make me late for school.

I sighed and looked around. I seen a group of boys by the exit. My heart beat quicker as one of them looked at me. I looked at him with wide eyes, the boy from my dream.

"I'll be back." he said to his friends. I watched as he walked up to me with a big smile on his face. "Hey." he said.

I couldn't even hardly speak. "Hey." I smiled nervously.

"I see you here all the time, you must go to Drew." he said referring to my school.

"Yeah, you go there?" I asked looking at him.

"Nah I graduated in May, but not from there. I came here from Virginia." he said as we started to walk.

"How long you been in the Bronx."

"Since June."

"Oh okay." I stared at the ground.

"You missed that bus." he asked.

"Yeah.. I guess I should start walking." I said about to leave.

He stopped me and raised my chin to look at him. "I don't mean to sound weird or anything but.. you wanna ride."

"That's real sweet but-"

"C'mon shawty." he said walking away.

I quickly rushed behind him and he walked up towards his friends. "I'll see y'all niggas later, I'm finna drop shawty off."

"Alright bruh." one of them said. They all stared at me as we walked away, I hate when niggas do that.

We went to his car and I stared at it. "I like your car." He had a dark blue metallic Charger.

"Thanks." he opened my door and I got in. He got in and we pulled off. I held on as we sped down the street.

"It smells good in here." I said.

He chuckled. "Thanks ma."

We rode for a while and he sighed. "What's your name?"

"Ella."

"Nice to meet you Ella, I'm Chris."

"Nice meeting you too." I said. We rode for a while and I stared at him. Damn, he fine as hell!

"What you lookin at, ma?" He asked pulling into the school parking lot.

"Nothing." I said looking away, he just laughed.

He got out and opened my door. He leaned against the car and licked his lips smiling at me. I blushed, covering my face being the shy ass bitch I am.

He moved me hand from my face and smiled. "Why you being shy."

I shrugged my shoulders. He chuckled, "What you doin after school."

"I have to go straight to work."

"How old you is?"

"18."

"You working?" he asked looking at me curiously.

"Yeah.. after my Daddy left, me and my Mama ain't really had no money so I started working as soon as I turned 16." I said.

He just stood there looking me up and down. I nervously shifted my feet as he examined me.

"Nothing to be embarrassed about." he smiled at me. "I'll be in the parking lot waiting for you after school."

Before I could say anything else he got in his car and drove away. I sighed and walked into the school building.

***********

I stood outside the school building shivering. It had started to snow and my mom promised she would take me to work today.

I called her and she picked up after 5 rings. "What girl?"

"Where you at? I thought you said you was gonna pick me up today."

"Oh shit! I forgot about that. I'm here with Tyrone. He promised to give me $300 if I let him come home with me, and you know that'll help us out." she said.

I sighed. "It's alright, I'll just take the bus."

I hung up and started walking towards the parking lot. I looked up when I heard my name. "Ella!" I heard it again. I turned around and Chris was right there.

"Chris can you please do me a favor, I need a ride to work." I said walking over to him.

He nodded. "Get in."

We got in and he sped down the street. "Where we goin."

"McDonald's." I said, he nodded.

We rode for a while and when we got to a red light, he looked at me. "How was your day at school ma." he asked me.

"It was decent. How was your day."

He shrugged. "It was aight I guess."

When we got there he got out and opened my door. He noticed me shivering, and took his coat off then put it around my shoulders.

"No Chris you need it-"

"Just take it, have a good day at work ma." he softly kissed my cheek then pulled my hair from my face.

I smiled. "Thanks foreal Chris."

"No problem, you gon need a ride home?"

"Nah I can walk home in 5 minutes. Thanks though." I said smiling.

"See ya." he smiled, winking at me then walked away.
