Buckle up, 'cause this one's gonna get wild.

Later, at Marinette's house

Marinette was happy that she had apparently already cleaned up her room for Adrien yesterday because it meant she could spend that time today preparing snacks for both of them. She was busy baking croissants, macaroons, and cookies.

Right before she started, however, she made sure to turn the rose around so that the mark wasn't showing.

Just as Marinette was pulling the cookies out of the oven, the bell that signaled a customer coming in rang.

It was Adrien.

Marinette set the cookie sheet down on the counter to cool and went to greet him.

"Hey, Adrien!"

"Hi, Marinette! Are you ready to work on the project?"

"Yeah, I actually just made these snacks so we wouldn't be hungry while we worked."

"Thanks, that's really thoughtful of you, Marinette."

"Shall we head up to my room?"

"Sure,"

They climbed the stairs up to Marinette's room.

Adrien didn't think that he could ever get used to the warm, sweet smell of the bakery. It followed them up the stairs and into Marinette's room, making him feel happy and warm inside.

When they walked in, Adrien's eyes immediately swept to the spot where the rose was, hoping that the mark wasn't there, that his eyes were wrong the last time he was here.

He couldn't see the mark.

He was relieved.

So relieved, in fact, that he decided to pry further.

"Hey, Marinette?" Adrien asked.

"Yes, Adrien?" She looked up from her tablet.

"About that rose..."

"Yes?"

"Um... where did you get it?"

So that's how this was going to go, Marinette thought. Alright, Kitty. If that's how you wanna play.

"I got it from a really good friend of mine. He's really close to me, and he's been there for me for a long time. He's super funny, caring, kind, handsome... basically everything I could hope him to be." She finished, smiling slightly to herself and staring into his eyes.

"Oh," He said, looking disappointed.

How oblivious can this boy be?

"I've felt that way about someone before." He said sadly.

"Oh, really?" Marinette asked.

"Yeah. But... she didn't feel the same way." He looked at his shoes, obviously upset.

I didn't realize how much this was tearing him up inside.

"I'm sorry, Adrien. I'm sure whoever she is, she didn't deserve you anyway."

"I... I have to go." He said, running through the doorway.

Wait, what?

"Adrien! Wait! I'm sorry!"

It was too late. When Marinette ran out, he had already become Chat Noir and run away.

Adrien couldn't take it anymore.
