CHAPTER THREE:
THE FOUNDER'S DAY BALLWhen finding the Salvatore brothers outside with a ball, tossing it around, she is instantly intrigued. Approching them from the house, she places herself on the steps. "What kind of game is this?"
"Football, Miss. A game of tackling and running, surely something not well done in a dress." Kataline laughs, agreeing completely. Though she would rather find pants and join in, ladies did not endure in such games. Sadly.
"Well I disagree." Katherine appears, smirking as she walkes down the steps. "Damon plays a rough game, Miss Pierce."
"Somehow I believe you play rougher." Upon those teasing words, Katherine steals the ball from Stefan's hands, running off into the forest. "That is a girl that wants to be chased." Damon claims, being the triggering words that sends Stefan off sprinting to the direction she went.
Damon smiles at Kataline, approaching the steps with an outstreched hand. She takes it, lead down the stairs to the plush ground. "Your sister is a troublemaker, but somehow I believe you are the real breaker of hearts." Kataline chuckles, though his accusation withhold some of the truth.
"Katherine is...indecisive. She never quite fully knows what she wants. She doesn't like chosing." She informs. Damon stands close. "What about you?" He almost whispers. Kataline refrains from tucking her bottom lip between her teeth.
"I listen to my heart, for as I trust it the most." Damon's hand has reached her face, seemingly not able to stay away from the beauty that is Kataline Pierce, a woman of kindness. Over the few weeks at home he has become knowing of his heart beating just a beat faster than usual whenevet her eyes set on his.
"What is your heart telling you now?" His face is close, yet Kataline knows she can't. She would be risking everything. So with a heavy heart she backs away with a small step. "It's telling me to listen to my head. Excuse me, Mr. Salvatore." Excusing herself, she rushes herself to the house, suddenly becoming very insecure.
She finds herself in the library, overwhelmed and wanting nothing more than to read her problems away. Picking randomly, Kataline confides herself in it's contents, letting her mind wander from any thoughts of Damon Salvatore. She wouldn't be Katherine, pinning for both brother's affections. Nor would she be falling for any of them.
She needed this. Somewhere she felt safe enough to catch her breath, just for a moment. As she read deeper into the book, she didn't realize the door opening and Damon emerging, taking a moment to let her take a final moment of peace before he interrupted. "I'm sorry, about eariler. I should not have done that without your permission." Kataline looked up, realizing so much time had passed. The sun was glowing lowly.
She closes the book, smiling to him. "Don't worry, Damon. All is forgiven. Thank you for the apology." Damon lets out a sigh of relief, smiling. "Then if it isn't too much to ask, would you let me escort you to the Founder's Day Ball?"
