"Ivy..." Cameron said with a shaky voice. "You and I made..."
"I know Cameron!"
"What's wrong isn't this good?"
"You want to raise a baby with THIS life?"
"If we don't have a choice..."
"No..." I can't do this. I can't raise a baby in this environment. I either have to give it up or quit the gang. But I don't really want to do either.
"I'm only 18. You're only 19! How would this work. Look what my mother did to me, I can't be a mother. I would break this child. No no NO!"
"Ivy calm down. Take deep breaths. The first thing we need to do is go to the hospital."
Cameron's POV
I hugged her to reassure her that everything would work out soon. But the truth is I don't even know if that's true myself. I want to help her. But now we're stuck together. She doesn't have a choice but to involve me in her life.
"I don't know what to do!" She put her hands on her head panicking. "You would be stuck with me forever! I am going to ruin you. What did I do? Why did I have to ruin your life? Cameron I'm so sorry." V started to ramble about things every second.
"Hey you didn't ruin my life Ivy. It's not your fault. "
I know she didn't like to cry because now she is forced to be strong. But this time I could tell she was on the verge of crying. I didn't want her to have another meltdown. She would wake everyone up. But she did anyways. She walked outside the door and ran a loud sound through the base that woke everybody up. It was 10 at night and they just went to bed. Almost everyone gathered in the main tech room the size of a house. Except for the people who were hurt.
"Everybody listen up! I know you're tired but we have work to do. Plans have changed. First we are going to triple security times 2. There will be more switch offs and more work. I know you are all probably going to get mad at me but trust me when I say this is necessary. We are going to keep the plan for destroying the gangs and move our base to Rosewood. I want everybody to give their best. Now we have to take desperate measures. Gather more men and train more people harder than you've ever trained before. Don't stop until they're better than even YOU! NOW GET GOING!"
She stepped down from the table. Members started to run around as V watched them get ready to work. She gave them the abandoned neighborhoods to look for men and women. She told them to offer 1 million each. They will each get more money as they go. I watched her tell people what to do and start packing everything necessary. They made a plan to have all the gangs turn against each other and put them in one place to destroy them. That would mean she has to hurt a lot of people. But she was ready. I think she was willing to do anything to protect our kid. I know she doesn't want to disappoint him/ her. Because if she did then it would remind her of her mother, and make her think that she wouldn't be a good one herself. I was scared for her once again. I know she tries to hide her pain but now it is more noticable. If I could just get her to open up to me and let her know that I am here to stay then maybe she would feel better. I have no idea what she's been through these last months. But it didn't help her at all. As much as she wants to think it did, she's even more broken. V was erasing hard drives and websites, messages, emails, even card records. They all had to get new identities or else they would be found eventually. Then her plan to gather the New Jersey gangs was in motion.
"Cameron you couldn't have come at a worse time." Ivy said pacing her walk faster.
"No I could help. Why are you moving your whole base to our hometown?"
"This baby needs to go home. Now that I am stuck with you, I think it's time we settle down. I can't leave the mafia gang. Soon we will be the most powerful and we could protect ourselves better."
"But you have to hurt a lot of people." I reminded her
"No, actually I am going to try and get others from different gangs to join us. Loyalty is everything. Trust is everything. I only trust 4 people anyways."
"Wait you want to have MORE people?" I looked at her as if she was crazy.
"Do you think I can't. We already have more power since we destroyed Riot. Now we have more money too. I control lots of businesses so it shouldn't be a problem. I can teach them non-cowardness."
"What makes you think they are just going to join and not work for somebody else?"
"If they try and disrespect or betray me I will make sure they wish they were never born. People know the pain I can inflict. I never used to do this but I don't know any other way to survive."
"Yes you do. Let's take our friends, they can move their company sources over to where ever we go. We can leave and never look back."
"I can't just abandon them."
"You wouldn't be abandoning them, you could leave them a new boss."
"It's not that simple Cameron. I can't just up and leave with no warning once we take full control. That's not how the world works."
"Why not. You and I, Cole, Joanne and Brittany could all be together. We could have a new life with no enemy to follow us."
"No matter what it's still abandonment. You obviously don't want this. I can raise this baby alone."
"And leave me out of the picture? I want to be with you but this is dangerous."
She put everything down for a moment. " So is NOT being in the gang. I have the ability to protect us. But if we leave who knows how many enemies would travel however far they need to to just to kill me or you!"
"We are trained spies and we almost rule New Jersey. If you aren't power hungry, you would consider leaving this place."
"I have...many times. Just to come back to you guys...well, you. But it's too dangerous."
"V you don't have to be scared. We would be together. Even Joanne could live with us. I know how to fight. Your the best shooter here. Heck you could go against the whole world. You're not alone V."
"I know." I put my hands on her face and kiss her forehead. Her cold hands were on mine.
"When was the last time you ate?" I asked in hope.
"2 days ago. I guess I have just been so stressed I didn't think of it."
"Well now you're feeding for two so you have to."
I took her to a restaurant. She put a beautiful dress on and straightened her hair.
Her side bangs shielded one of her eyes and for the first time in a day or so. She smiled a genuine smile.
"Better start wearing my favorite things if I am going to show soon huh?" Ivy put on her coat and heels and we left.
--- At dinner ---
"Did your old boss torture you with no food or water?"
"I told him I was anorexic so he didn't. I don't think he wanted me to relapse. I would get weaker."
I watched her eat and enjoy the food. To this day I never get tired of looking at her. Now that I have her back in my arms I was not willing to let her go.
"I'll do whatever you want V." I said quieter keeping my low voice in at the table.
"What do you mean?"
"I'll stay in the gang with you if that's what you want."
"No." She put her fork down. "We have to start making decisions together now." She grabbed my hand and I held hers. After dinner I took her to a big statue that stood in a bright park in the middle of Jersey. Around the statue there was a unique fountain that shot water into the air and bright blue lights. The lights were so bright her eyes glittered to the sight, she was so amazed. I haven't seen her this happy in a long long time. It warmed my heart to know that we are going to stay together this time. I have never been so happy myself. For this one moment, we were both alive and well. For this one moment we were a family. For this ONE moment...we were both free.
