PROLOGUE, THE ARRIVAL

When she first opened her eyes, the girl felt disoriented, her head was throbbing along with confusion, she couldn't remember anything and she took in a sharp breathe of oxygen, coughing like crazy as water spilled out of her mouth. Her thoughts were black, never-ending and completely blank, she squeezed her eyes shut, focusing hard before giving up and looking at her surroundings. It was too dark for her to find anything, any sort of clue that could help her as a metal cage guided her somewhere she was uncertain about. Her watered eyes squeezed shut again, panicked as she tried to remember, something, anything.

Marie.

Her eyes snap open, her name was Marie, a sigh of relief left her chapped and dry lips, though it didn't relieve her from the worry she felt at the thought of her destination. A cry left her lips as the speed picked and the cage started to move faster, it only suffocating her more.

"Help me! Somebody help!" Her voice felt strange, strangled as a sob covered it, standing up with tears leaking out of her eyes as she banged her palms on the top of the metal.

Marie sat back down, finding it useless to yell and plead, realizing the only way she could actually feel calm was when she reached wherever she was going. The girl pulled her knees towards her chest, covering up her face and trying to calm herself down, eyes closed while simultaneously hoping some memories would come back to her. Small yellow sparks emitted from the carrier as metal screeched against metal.

Marie finally looked up, realizing that she was about to reach the top, her eyes widened as she looked at the end, her grabbing onto the cage thinking it would crush into the ceiling but sighed when she came to a stop right under the metal door. She finally got some light to look around and see that one or two animals were seated with her, three boxes one labeled with her name. The girl, confused and scared decided that despite being curious should stay in her place.

Her cheeks were still wet from her tears, she didn't bother to clean herself up as she waited for something to happen, the doors to open or for her to fall back down. Feeling like a prisoner in silence, used her sleeve to wipe her damp face, peering up as the sound of voiced caught her attention. After what seemed like ages, the metal doors started to open, sunlight peeking through the crack as it got wider and wider.

Marie squinted as the bright light overpowered her sight and she was left in a dark daze for a few seconds before she opened her eyes wide, only to see a bunch of boys peering down at her, eyes wide and gaping like fools. Anxiety bubbled up in her chest as she tried to cower under their intense gaze, she couldn't find any girl in the crowd, making her more fearful of the place she had ended up.

"Shuck, it's a girl!"

"What? It's a girl? That can't be possible."

"Is she hot?"
