Chapter Thirteen
———————————Familiar is the best word I'd use to describe my surroundings. Street lights littering the pathways I've walked down countless of times. Some yellow flecks of colour from the tall structures were blinking on and off. The occasional street light dead to the world covered in darkness much like myself. I was smothered in pitch black with Harry beside me entering his dark world.
I was beginning to favour his company causing my thoughts to counteract one another. Deep down inside I knew I should be afraid. Yet I wasn't. Seeing those people at the horrific warehouse caused this feeling. I kept blaming my situation for that reason. It was the main flame burning this desire to be near him at all times. I feel safe and conflicted all in one.
The road trip back to my home town where I assume Harry or Harold, as he yells at me to call him, is from. My stomach twists at the thought of seeing Harper walking the streets trying to find me. Yet I knew deep down she would never leave father at home. We promised to always have one of us by his side. I am thankful for that blessing knowing if she indeed did make it back, they'll both be safe.
The majority of the fast paced ride in the black metal machine known as Harry's Jeep was quiet. No music, not even his breathing was heard. All I could faintly hear was my heartbeat from the sharp twists and turns Harry was making. I honestly thought he would roll the car, but he didn't thankfully, or at least so far.
"We're nearly here, Elora," Harry whispers with green eyes concentrating on the road ahaead.
Another thing that has completely changed, he calls me by my first name. His heavy accent seems to swirl around my heart with the whisper or shout of my name calling from his plump lips. It felt like a sin. That was because it was.
I'm surprised he hasn't fallen asleep yet, however, there were times where his head would slowly nod forwards towards his chest. In reaction I would noisily shuffle around as his green eyes lazily peered over to mine due to my movements, probably thinking I was going to try something utterly stupid again. I learnt my lesson.
"Who are we meeting? Is it your father?" I question my voice shaking remembering his threatening words about his fathers intentions and his.
"Yes and remember, don't act stupid. My father and I both know what you're capable of, well, we all know. So tell the truth always if you want longer to breathe on this hell of an Earth." He mumbles with a sigh as he turns down a street quickly without breaking.
Grasping onto the leather seat with both hands beside my legs, my lip begins to tremble. I will not cry. However, as we come closer and closer towards the end of Anne Street my walls almost shatter. The dusty old two story house comes into view. The images flash before my terrified green eyes of the mask wearing eradicators. My shelter of a small bush I took refuge in before the commencement of the seasonal 'celebration'. The beginning of the eradication.
"Harry," I quickly say before emeralds meet my eyes. "I mean— I don't want to go in there, actually I can't go in there," I splutter out in a mess as the car pulls into the deserted driveway.
"Actually you can and you will step foot in that house. My father is kind to all his guests," he chuckles, "well only the ones he actually likes. If it's any consolation I like you." Harry smiles making me frown at the truthfulness behind his voice. "I promise you'll be okay."
With the slam of the car door Harry's heavy footsteps meet the stone cobble grounding. My alerting eyes dart towards the house yet again. Why did Harry take me back here, did he know? I can't only hope his promise remains true.
Suddenly a dozen or more bodies come flooding out of the dirty house. Different terrifying and gruesome masks sealing away their identity. My heartbeat bounces against my rib cage aggressively much like the angry eradicators shouting and racing towards the car. Screams and cries echoing in the air with fists connecting onto the windscreen causing my breathing to heighten to its extent. My eyes dart around for Harry who is smiling at a man in the doorway with arms crossed.
I become claustrophobic with no air flow in the car and my rapid breathing. Shrinking down onto the flooring of the front passenger seat I wipe my brow of sweat. I liked it when it was just me and Harry. Peeking up I stare at them through the mass of eradicators slamming their fists on the Jeep. The large guy connects eyes with me noticing it was him. The leader standing before the crowd while I was hidden in my green little bush.
With a smirk he speaks to Harry as he also turns around. His features soften the slightest shaking his head seeming to disagree with the lead eradicator. Seconds later my beautiful capturer sighs looking at me with a forced frown. The only way I could deprive his soft features was, I'm sorry. A rise of his hand towards me and his precious black vehicle forces out a click, orange lights flicking twice on the cars exterior.
With a gasp I stare, wide eyes at Harry's strong form. With a scream my passenger door is yanked open as my vision from Harry is taken over by a clown masked person. He let them reach my helpless body.
