Eradicate
Chapter Seven
———————————Emeralds full of mischief cause my stomach to twist and turn as my whole body feels as though it's travelling down the slope on a roller coaster. I hate roller coasters, there's always the fear of something terrible going wrong which can end in your bitter death. His heavy footsteps thump in my ear drums suddenly taking over all my alert senses.
With a harsh grip I hold in a whimper as the sinfully gorgeous yet dangerous eradicator heaves me up onto wobbly converse. I can only hope that my older sister, Harper, will return back in time to care for my dad. Praying she'll make it back alive and well. Praying father doesn't wake up scared and defenceless. Yet the slight warmth in my heart stays surrounded by bitter ice knowing he at least has a plate of food.
"Let's go love, no time to waste while you have a ticking time bomb rushing through your veins!" He chuckles darkly.
All my dreams to escape this nightmare with my family has been eradicated. This game the government has formatted is full of pure hatred only wanting the strongest to survive and allowing the winner of it all to gain a prize. Disgust is what I felt for the winner of previous eradication's, yet now I'll have disgust for six people as each twenty-four hours that pass a winner will be announced. How they gain that title is beyond horrendous.
My steps sway every now and then knowing I'll be facing my death. Gritting my teeth his hold on my painful wound tightens as I'm practically dragged through the rubble created by him.
As we walk past the chess game he snickers, "tell me, are you the one that lost that game of chess?"
I simply nod my head not wanting to anger him, silent tears travel down meeting my pink cracked lips. That's all I ever do now, cry. No more chess games with Harper. My green eyes simply cast down to the floor not wanting to meet his sadistic smirk.
"I might kill you now honestly, pitiful." He yells with a rough tug as I let out a shriek.
My legs begin to shake and buckle as I begin ascending the stairs. "Where are you taking me?" I stutter quietly.
"To a form of entertainment and maybe encouragement of the sorts."
My head starts to spin as I dig my heels into the flooring before entering the dangerous open streets Harper would be travelling through. What encouraging entertainment is he talking about and encouragement for what exactly?
"Get your head out of the gutter girl, it's not that form of entertainment."
With a ruff tug he slides his silver gun into his other hand as it glistens in the warm streetlights, each step is forced knowing no one is protecting my dad back at home. Suddenly my foot catches on a rock causing me to stumble forward on the black coal like road with a gasp of air leaving my lips.
His now dark green eyes turn towards mine with a seemingly permanent scowl yet this one is deeper and plastered on his face. Dangerously beautiful. These thoughts of knowing he's attractive is pitiful. I'm weak and useless. Who would have these sinful thoughts knowing my sister is out their risking her life for me? All for nothing. Currently his already strong grip becomes unbearable surely leaving pink and red marks, my lip begins to tremble holding back the waterfall. Tears make you weak.
"Not a sound should be heard from you."
Every step becomes harder than the last with crimson dripping down my now pale arm from the bullet wound created by him. Slowly the liquid creates a path landing on his firm steel grip as quickly as it connects emerald dark eyes dart towards the intrusion. The once almost coal like eyes lighten up like a switch adjoined with a dark coy smile. He thrived from seeing this, he caused this after all.
Halting, his eyes now move towards the supermarket I first met him wearing the denim jacket yelling at the innocent cashier. Peering my eyes towards the darkly lit store was a silhouette. Down Dottie's pet food aisle was a man shakily pointing a gun, towards us.
"Oh old man, put that thing down before you hurt yourself. You don't want to embarrass yourself in front of the young dying corpse."
Uneasiness grows immensely as a frown paints itself messily on my cool face. Instantly reminded of my lost French bulldog.
"Let the girl go young man, you're an eradicator!" He hisses stepping forwards.
My terrified eyes widen realising it's the poor man from beforehand who was handling the cash register. The eradicator simply stood tall beside me. The grip he has on my arm loosens until the warmth of his hand is completely gone. I wanted to gamble with my life in whether I should run this very second yet my terrified eyes are locked onto the old mans hunched form swallowed in darkness.
"You're in my supermarket and my home, get out!" The man grumbles.
"You hit a nerve there," the denim wearing kidnapper growls flicking the safety off, "I'm not an eradicator, I'm ridding the world from people like you."
The shot fires off as my eyes slip shut hearing a clatter of a gun and later a thump of a body. The ringing in my ears reaches an uncomfortable level until a strong grasp on my arm alarms my green eyes open in fright.
Staring at a chest I peer up to beautiful green eyes and a smirk I've sadly become accustom to.
"That was fun wasn't it... well, what is your name exactly" he smiles wickedly.
"Elora," I all but cry with tears rushing down my warm face.
"Mines Harold, Harold Styles."
