I woke up with the smell of antiseptic hitting me hard. I scrunched my nose in disgust. I felt weird and uncomfortable. I slowly opened my eyes but was met with blurry vision and thereon blinded with brilliant white. Carefully turning my head to the right, I could see an IV stand with IV fluid hanging from it. Tracing the tube, I could see that it was connected to my right hand. There was a stand–like table with multiple drawers to the left of the bed I was lying on. On it were some bottles of injection few syringes and a role of plaster. Looking at myself, I was covered with a sky-blue blanket to just above my waist. The only piece of furniture in the room was an ash coloured velvet loveseat. Directly opposite me, hanging on the wall was a TV. It was mute but displayed images I wasn't interested in. 'Hospital' I thought. 'What am I doing Here?' 'What happened?' I asked myself. I can't remember being down with any illness.

Just as I was trying to recall, Nathan walked in. He had a fast food take-away pack in his hand.
Why was Nathan here without Jace??
Then it hit me. The account of earlier today or yesterday or days ago. I didn't even know what day it was. Nathan told me what happened to Jace and I guess I passed out. I guess that's why I am here.

I started sobbing then burst out in full blown tears. Nathan tried comforting me as sorrow washed over me.
I don't know how long I cried before I drifted off again.
By the time I woke up, the IV was gone and the head of the bed was now lowered.
Nathan laid on the loveseat with his leg hanging out of the chair arm. It must be really uncomfortable since he is 6ft5. His phone was on his chest connected to an earpiece that was plugged in his ear. For the first time, I took in His enticing features:
Strong jawlines, long lashes, pink delicious looking lips and a nice haircut. his arms looked strong with twitching muscles clasped behind his head. His eyes were closed and gosh he looked really cute as his brows drew together.
His arms were clasped behind his head -twitching probably in rhythm with the song he was listening to- accentuating his strong built. All His work out sure pay off. His navy blue shirt fitted perfectly accentuating his biceps and he was clad in blue jeans. He had His socks on and his black Nike sneakers was on the floor beside the seat.
It looked like the one Jace got me for my birthday.
Just then I remembered again why I was here in the first place. My boyfriend was gone and here I was checking out his hot bestfriend.
OMG! Did I just say hot??
I face palmed and sighed.
Okay, what next? What am I going to do now?
Just on cue, I found Nathan right beside me. Looking up, he had a strained smile etched on his face. His lips were set in a thin line.
'Thank heavens this sleeping beauty is finally awake' he said. That was meant to make me smile but there was no humour in it as his voice sounded raspy probably from lack of use. I wonder how long I have been here and how long he had been waiting for me to come awake. 'How are you feeling' he asked with a look of concern. 'I'm okay I guess, just feeling stiff from lying for so long' was what came out of my mouth. I wasn't feeling myself.
'How long have I been here' I asked. He glanced at the wall clock hanging over the TV set and replied 'about six hours'. I gasped. Before I could think of anything or even open my mouth to say it, he adjusted the bed part that was meat to serve as a table and set my food upon it. 'You have to eat now' he said. 'You need strength physically an emotionally. This's what Jace would want. For you to be alright, I'm sure. We can't bring him back but we have to muster strength and courage to forge ahead.' I can buy a whole store for you to eat but as for your emotions, that my friend i can't help with. I sighed in exasperation. He was right, but I can't deny the pain I'm feeling inside.
I looked  down at the food with zero appetite.
'I'll be right back' he said 'I have some things to take care of'. With that, he walked out of the room after turning up the volume of the TV a notch. A movie was on. I still wasn't interested in the food before me so I just stared at the TV unaware of what I was even seeing. I had a lot going through my mind.
Nathan's a big part of my life.
