Chapter 8: To Envision a Better Future

Paula and Dan awaited their children. They knew they were stranded out there, but safe, maybe. Still, they worried and missed them so. A tear was shed every so often. Mamma Frye really missed them. As they sat in their bedroom, an angel of white appeared unto them. The angel had dark red hair and had light skin. He wore a white robe and hovered on light.

"I am Uriel, an angel of God."

They were amazed, but remembering that you shouldn't assume every angel as an angel of God, Paula spoke up. "How do I know you are God's angel?"

"I serve the Lord Jesus of Nazareth, savior of the Earth," He smiled. "I come to show you something; a wonderful thing!"

"What is it?" asked Dan.

Uriel approached them gently and showed them what was shaped like a portal. "Look here! You're children are safe! Worry not." The angel explained what had happened to them and showed a vision of the children.

In the portal were four kids sleeping in cozy-looking beds. It was Jordan, Bethany, Cierra, and young Isaac. They looked peaceful. Jordan lay stiff with Cierra nuzzled in his shoulder, hiding her face from the night's cold air. Isaac had a hand on Bethany's collar bone. Bethany held onto his hand, comfortingly. Paula and Dan laughed at the fortified pillow barrier that lay between the two... probably Isaac's idea.

"Noooo Bethy," said a sleepy voiced Isaac. "I... I don't wanna lose my arm. You're cutting off my blooooood." He yanked his arm from a heavily sleeping Bethany who had grabbed Isaac's arm and now cuddled with it like a teddy bear, only with a death grip! She was strangling her little brother's forearm. He grabbed a pillow from the barrier and whacked Bethany with it, forgetting his or her own injuries (although minor).

POOM!!

"Owwwww..," she moaned groggily. She was asleep. She still did not budge.

PLAN B!

Isaac took the barrier pillows and tossed them to the ground on Bethany's side. Plenty of squishy pillows for a soft landing and quiet fall. He slowly and gradually pushed his sister to the edge. She didn't even fuss. Dang she sleep good! Isaac got to the edge and fwoooop!! she fell onto the pile of pillows. He threw an extra blanket over her and claimed his new big bed by spreading himself across it. Legs spread apart and he lie on his stomach. With a satisfied and slightly devious deep breath he went to sleep. "mine," he breathed faintly.

Dan and Paula laughed and the angel faded the view. "They are in good hands. I can tell you that they won't be home too soon, but worry not. When all is right, they will return to you with happy hearts. Keep faith," Uriel said as he faded away.

They sat quietly in the bed and sighed with relief. They missed them dearly, but they trusted that they were safe wherever they had gone.
