Chapter 11: Euphoria
Bethany's POV
I wake up one morning to the howling of wind. It's been snowing nonstop for almost a week now. I slip out from under the covers, since I'm in the middle of the bed with Isaac and Cierra. Jordan's still sleeping in the bunk bed. I creep away and quickly dress myself into a red sweater, and dark blue jeans. My bare feet carry me to the window and I see a blanket of snow. "Oh my gosh! It's so beautiful," I whisper. The barn seemed snowed shut from the night before. We were actually snowed in, but Aaron and Raymund still managed to plow a path to the barns. Aaron had cut the pine tree down that was right by the house so it would not fall or drop a few pounds of snow on the roof. The roads, though, were invisible. Only a fool would go out and try to drive it. It was higher than their van. Raymund still had our car at his house, he was supposed to finish it a few days ago, but the weather delayed him. He had to stop to take extra care of the animals at his farm.
Before the blizzard really kicked in, we visited his farm a bit. He has lots of animals. Black cows, a few mustangs, a bunch of Clydesdale and Shire horses, miniature horses (where Thora got Zelda from), Shetland ponies, lots of donkeys, baby deer, llamas, and really big pigs. Inside his house are two raccoons, a lop-eared bunny, one parakeet, a macaw, and a couple canaries. The barn cat stays inside the barn with the horses, chasing or eating the mice away.
Today was still very early and quiet. I went to my suitcase and pulled out my drawing pad, well it's actually Cierra's, but we share it. She won't miss it much. I throw on my robe and one of Isaac's coats, then head out onto the sheltered porch. The wind seemed to calm to a breeze, steady. The sight was breathtaking.
Cierra's POV
Bethany was already up. I stretched out and my hand brushed Isaac, but it wasn't his fuzzy face my felt. It was his leg. Somehow Isaac flipped himself upside down. His head was at the foot of the bed, and his feet were buried under the pillows. When I sat up Jordan waved.
"Yo Cierra."
"Yo Jor - OW!"
Isaac had flung his foot and kicked my chest. Oh, and it gets better. As soon as I grabbed a pillow, he farted! No! That's when the line is crossed... usually... sometimes... well this time! I take the pillow and whack his head. "WAKE UP YOU SMELLY BUM!" He jumped a bit, unaware that I hit him with it. "
"Huh -wha? Jordan ...wait what? Um..." Isaac looked around the room, dazed. He must have been dreaming. "How the heck did I do that?"
"Don't ask me, ya smelly bum."
Isaac smiled when he sniffed the air. Great, he's being cocky now.
"So Jordan, how bad was it?" He grinned ear to ear and chuckled sleepily. Jordan had buried his nose and mouth under the covers of his bed. He looked up at Isaac for a moment, making a dramatic silence. Then he yelled... dramatically.... putting his hands over his eyes as if they were going to fall out. He said that they were melting. The boys high-fived. Boys....
