His first instinct was to tell Yoongi.
The elder always knew what to do and often gave good advice. What stopped him was that if he told Yoongi, then all the little help he was getting might go to waste. It had taken Yoongi a lot of courage to go back to therapy; and he did not need Namjoon to run to him and tell him about Jimin. If Yoongi knew then he would kill whoever had hurt his muse.
So he didn't go to Yoongi.
His next stop was Jin. He was technically the oldest, and had a great relationship with Jimin. Jimin respected Jin. Jimin would often remind the others that even though Jin acted kid and didn't care about age hierarchy he was still the oldest and demanded their respect. So when he found Jin practicing his vocals with a pair of headset and sheet music in front of him Namjoon changed his mind.
How could he ask Jin to go to Jimin when he had seen their drift in the past two weeks. He felt guilty for it. He had ruined a perfectly good friendship there.
"Namjoon?" Jin asked when he spotted him. "Is something the matter?"
"No I was just-" Namjoon began but didn't know where to lead that sentence so he just let it die out."You're worrying me." Jin said pushing his headphones completely off turing his body to him.
"Do you know where Hoseok-hyung is at?" Namjoon asked instead.
Jin frowned assessing him, but decided not to pry. "He is doing a radio talk with Yoongi and Jungkook."
"You sound good." Namjoon nodded giving him a tight smile, his mind already thousands of miles away.
"Thank you!" Jin beamed, "How's Jimin?"
Namjoon felt a lump in his throat. He wanted to cry and run away and go to Jimin and hold him tight. He wanted to comfort him and make him believe that the world was a good place. To make him laugh like before and see the light behind his eyes.
"Not so good." Namjoon repressed his tears. "He was diagnosed with vocal strain."
"Oh no!" Jin gasped, his eyes wide and terrified.
It was different for the singers, their voices were their livelihood, their center, and self-expression. If taken, might as well rip away their souls. Equivalent to a violinist losing his fingers or a scientist losing their mind. So Jin's reaction was understandable.
"How long have you known?" Jin asked frowning, as if accusing him.
"Not long." Namjoon shook his head, "but Jimin wants to go back to Busan."
"Why?" Jin asked.
"He thinks if he loses his voice completely then there is no point of him being part of the group." Namjoon informed, this information easier to swallow and tell then the reason why Jimin had this condition to begin with.
Jin's face fell, he buried his hands on his face and was crying. Namjoon blinked unknowing what to do for a second before his body acted on its own. He went over to Jin and embraced him. He held him.
"I've been horrible to him lately." Jin confessed sobbing into his shirt. "I didn't want a confrontation and he's been dealing with this for over a week. By himself. I bet he's been scared and lonely while I was being a brat."
"It's not your fault hyung." Namjoon cooed, "Things just happen. No one is blaming anyone here. We just need to remind Jimin that he's part of this group. He's family."
"Why are you saying that?" Jin asked pulling away from his embrace. "Of course he knows."
Namjoon looked away debating whether or not to tell Jin the entire truth.
