"What is this place?" Alexander asked as we entered through another secret door into a large closet.

"This is where my father has files on every alpha who has ever lived, well in the last century anyways," I explained as I tried not to chuckle at Alexander's amazement as he stared at the rows and rows of binders containing current information on all the alphas.

"How long have you known about this?" he asked as he finally locked eyes with me.

I shrugged before answering him, "A few years. He had me help him update some files a few months ago. He doesn't know there is a door connected to this room as it is hidden, which you must've noticed when we walked in. He doesn't spend much of his time in here anyhow."

He nodded before turning his attention back to the shelves and asking, "So what exactly are we searching for?"

"Well, before you found me," I paused to begin searching the shelves for the binder I needed, "I was speaking with one of the alphas. He informed me he had a mate."

Alexander's eyes widened and I nodded.

"Why would your father bring him if he had a mate already?" he asked and I shrugged.

"I don't know, but that's what we're going to find out," I said and he nodded before asking for his name.

I told him and we began our search. I decided to pull the files of the alphas that were here as we came across them, so I could brush up on them. Especially with the gala approaching and my mate possibly being one of them.

"Ah, here it is," Alexander said after had nearly searched the entire room.

I made a mental note to reorganize it and place it back in alphabetical order as my father had obviously destroyed the progress I had made previously.

We began to read through it and what I read shocked me.

"Wow, okay. He has a long list of incidents and it seems he has conquered many other weaker packs. I don't see any- wait. Here," he said as he pointed to one of the last paragraphs of information, "It says he has found his mate but is not fully mated. She is the daughter of the hybrid alpha."

My eyes widened as I took it from him, "Really? Alpha Arad Raedwulf is her father? I've heard some nasty things about him from my father."

Alpha Raedwulf is a touchy subject for my father. It is mostly because he has both werewolves and vampires in his pack and neither want to listen to my father or the vampire king. It has caused a lot of conflict with my father and the vampire king, Thordis.

"Yeah, do you think this is why your father brought him here? To provoke Raedwulf or Thordis?" Alexander asked as he picked up another alpha's binder.

"It wouldn't surprise me. It seems Roman has given my father a run for his money as well, from reading his file. I'm surprised my father invited him still, he doesn't seem like the type he would want me to be with. I'm sure annoying Thordis is the real reason why he was brought here, especially since he hasn't been enforcing the fact he was ordered to come to all the dinners," I explained before placing the file back down and picking up Alpha Isaac's file.

"So, any of the alphas catch your eye?" Alexander teased, although I could sense a bit of sadness in his words.

"Not particularly, but if I did have to pick one out of just those five to be my mate I would pick Isaac. He's the only one who hasn't been crass or stuck up my father's butt that seems somewhat nice to be around," I said as I began reading.
