There are many soulmates, but only one can understand the howling of your heart. -L.L.

I searched everywhere for my mate, but I could not find him. I realized as the scent became more and more faint, that he had left the room.
"Iridessa, happy birthday," my father said as he made his way towards me.
I was still frantically looking for my mate and not looking to deal with my father.
"Is he here?" he asked, suddenly becoming excited.
I ignored him and followed the very faint scent out to the hall. Suddenly it went away.
I sighed loudly and decided it had to be one of the alphas, and they possibly were in the guest house so I'd be better off just going to bed. I made my way up the stairs to my suite. As I was about to enter the suite the smell faintly returned. I quickly turned around, bumping into someone.
"Oh, I'm sorry!" the man said as he caught me before I fell.
I realized it was Isaac.
"Oh, hi Isaac, you're fine," I said giving him a light smile.
He continued to hold me and look into my eyes.
"I enjoyed our kiss earlier princess," he said as he moved closer to my face.
I felt frozen in place as he hovered just above my lips and whispered, "Happy Birthday."
For a brief moment as Isaac's lips touched mine the overwhelming smell of my mate once again washed over me and a growl vibrated down the hall. It was low but so powerful that it shook the halls and sent a chill through my body.
Isaac jumped away from me and both of our heads shot towards the direction of the noise, but there was nothing there.
"Who was that? Alexander?" he asked, slightly annoyed.
"No, it was my mate," I replied before going down the hall to search for him.
Somehow the trail had disappeared and I was beginning to grow annoyed at this cat and mouse game.
I groaned as I went back to my suite, into my room and threw myself on my bed.
"So, how was the gala," Rosemarie said.
I jumped and almost fell off the bed. I held my hand across my chest as I sat up.
"Gosh, Rose, you scared me to death," I said with a huff.
She smiled and said, "So, you didn't answer."
"My mate is here," I said with a slight smile.
"What!" she exclaimed as she jumped to her feet, "And you're here, with me! Why aren't you with him? Why aren't you excited?!"
"Sh!" I said motioning with my finger, "Quiet down. You're going to wake up everyone in the castle."
"I couldn't find him, although I believe he saw me kiss Alpha I-"
"You kissed Alpha Isaac!" she exclaimed before quickly covering her mouth with her hand, "Right, sorry."
"Technically, he kissed me, but whoever is my mate saw the kiss and I don't have a clue who he is or where he went. I tried to find him but I couldn't. I think he covered his scent," I said with a groan before covering my face with the pillow.
