RORY
I felt sticky when I woke up. My wet clothes clung to my skin, and when I looked up I realized why. The leaf roof to the shelter had broken, and it had been raining on Beck and I all night.
Beck lay asleep beside me, his mouth open slightly as a steady breath flowed out of it. His arm was slung across my waist, hugging me tightly to his chest.
I cuddled closer to his chest, placing my ear against his beating heart.
I was just about to drift back off to sleep when the sound of a plane met my ears. I would've ignored it had it not seemed like it was getting closer and closer to where we were. It got louder and louder, getting so loud that Beck woke up, bumping heads with me as his head shot up.
He cursed, but quickly turned his attention back to the loud noise. "What is that?"
I refused to get my hopes up. "I think...I think its a plane."
Beck looked at me with wide eyes, then shot up and started to gather our things. Once again, he put our bags over his shoulders and lifted me up into his arms.
It took a good twenty minutes to get back onto the beach. We didn't see anything. It was completely empty. My heart dropped. "Do you think...?"
"They left? No. We would've heard the plane." Beck replied. "Cover your ears."
I hesitantly did as told. Then beck was shouting. I could still make out what he was saying despite my ears being covered.
"Hello? Is someone there? Its Beck and Rory!"
We waited for a couple moments. We got nothing. He yelled again. "Hello! Am I making myself look dumb or can you just not hear me?"
He waited for a minute. Beck was about to yell again when we heard it. A voice.
"Hello? Is someone here?" It was very faint, and both of us almost missed it.
Beck started running in the direction of the voice with me in his arms.
"Hello! Hello, its Beck and Rory!" He shouted.
"Beckett? Where are you?" The voice shouted back.
"Well...On the beach!" He shouted, not knowing any other way describe where we were. Tears of relief started to leak down my cheeks. Seconds later, Beck's cheeks were wet too.
"Stay there! We'll find you!"
When Beck stopped running, he ducked his head and pressed his lips to mine, our tears mixing together.
"This is it." He said with a grin.
"We're going home." I replied with a watery smile.
Beck sat us down, and I immediately wrapped my arms around him, crying into his shoulder. He hugged me back tight.
The sound of a vehicle met our ears, and we looked up to see three ATVs driving towards us, each of them with rolling stretchers attached to the back of them.
It was all smiles when they stopped in front of us. Beck and I both looked like messes, but it was a given that we would. He had been on a deserted island alone for five days.
"Beckett and Rory?" The woman in the front asked. She had a coast guard uniform on, and so did the two men behind her. One had a medic patch on his sleeve.
Beck and I nodded, looking at the three rescuers with tears flooding down our cheeks. "Y-Yes. That's us." I croaked.
They grinned. "Let's get you two home."
Beck and the medic helped me onto one of the stretchers, securing me so I wouldn't fall off. They did the same for Beck for precautionary measures, and then the five of us were heading off in the direction the coast guards had come from. Minutes later, we were being wheeled onto a plane, and medics were all over us, making sure we didn't have any life threatening injuries or illnesses.
The plane took off after a couple of minutes, and I grabbed Beck's hand looking at him with a smile. "I love you." I mouthed.
He grinned back. "I love you too." He blew a kiss, making me giggle. The medics never asked us to let go of each others hand.
I turned my head to look back at the roof of the plane, all of this seeming so surreal.
Beck and I had been stuck on an island for almost a week, and now we were finally going home with a lot more than what we came with.
