Evan's POV
Dad and I walked into King's Cross Station and made our way over to a pillar between platforms 9 and 10. "Here we are Evan! Come on!" Dad said, disappearing into the platform. Wizards are always so creative when it comes to hiding our world from the no-mag.
Making sure Sam was focused and no one was looking, I too made my way through the pillar, meeting my dad on the other side. Dad smiled at me, putting an arm around me.
I saw a beautiful scarlet train in front of us and the front of it read 'HOGWARTS EXPRESS', and below it, was the number 5972. "Got your ticket?" Dad asked.
"Yes sir," I replied.
"Not only should you text me, but you should write letters to me as well. Got that?"
"I will Dad. Don't worry," I respond, looking at my barn owl, Xavier.
"Good. Call me tonight and let me know how everything goes, alright?"
"Alright. I will. Love you, Dad."
"Love you, too, Evan."
"Bye son!" Dad said.
"Bye Dad!" I said, giving him a goodbye hug. "I'll see you at Christmas!"
"See you then.""Sam, heel," I commanded, and he followed me. I made my way onto the train, found an empty compartment, and sat down. "Down," I said and pointed at the compartment floor. Sam did as he was told just like he was trained. I was beginning to get nervous because I had never been so far away from dad before and I was going to be gone for so long. Sam could sense my nervousness and alerted me with his paw. He then proceeded to put his head in my lap and I stroked his head. "Good boy," I smiled.
Once the train left, Dad and I exchanged one final goodbye and I sat back down.
"Dogs aren't allowed at Hogwarts," a girl with bushy brown hair had said about a half hour after we left.
"He's a service dog," I responded. She then noticed Sam's Doctor Who themed vest with various patches that say, "Service Dog", "Ignore Me", and "Do Not Pet". I have others, but those are the ones that happen to be on his vest.
"Oh! My apologies! I wasn't aware," she says.
"It's alright. It happens all the time," I say. "I'm Evan Thompson, and this is Sam."
"I'm Hermione Granger," she says, introducing herself. "You must be that new transfer student from America, aren't you?" She asked, sticking out her hand.
"Yeah, I am." I shook her hand, making her acquaintance.
"Then you probably don't know where my friends are, Harry Potter and Ronald Weasley, do you?"
"No, I don't sorry." Wait, did she say Harry Potter?!
"Wait, you know Harry Potter?" I ask, enthusiastically.
"Yes. Have you heard about him?"
"I have. My dad told me about him when I was younger."
"I'm sure he'd love to meet you! Anyways, what house are you in?"
"Well at Ilvermorny, I was a Pukwudgie," I responded.
"What's your Hogwarts house?" she asked.
"I dunno yet. I haven't been sorted.
"What year are you in?" she asked. "My friends and I will all be second years." I assume she's trying to get to know me.
"I'm going in as a second year as well."
