Chapter 12 – A Sincere Love

Cross Resort, Phobos

Jerry returned to his hotel room, along with Alyssa. The two decided to spend a little more time together as Alyssa began to feel drowsy. "You alright, Alyssa?" asked Jerry in concern. Alyssa then looked at him. "I didn't sleep well, last night!" said Alyssa. "I was thinking that, I mistreated you when all you ever did was showed me you cared." Alyssa then began to shed a few tears. "All I've been looking for since Christopher proved to be a junkie, is a caring and compassionate man like you!" said Alyssa. "You didn't make any mistake falling in love with me." Jerry looked at her, feeling guilty. "I'm sorry for lashing out at you few days earlier." Jerry said. "It was my fault." Alyssa sat on the other bed in the room. "No, fault was mine!" said Alyssa. "I should've known, you only meant well and wanted me to be happy." Jerry sat on his bed and looked at her. "It honestly doesn't matter anymore." He said. "I lost my love once, and I don't wish to lose my love again!" He then looked a little away. "The reason I left my parents was because, I wasn't worthy for my ex-wife. I accepted back then, the fact that I'm a fool! That I'm stupid and useless! That I'm Zero!" said Jerry. "I gave myself that new name before I left the house. My parents begged me to stay, but I had to leave." Alyssa then fell back on the bed and began to close her eyes. "I'm really tired!" said Alyssa. Jerry then helped her. "I think you should sleep here and then leave in the morning." He suggested. "You're not in any state to go home yourself." She tried to get up and go. "No, don't exert yourself!" said Jerry. She took off her shoes and got her tucked in the bed.

Alyssa then held Jerry and looked into his eyes. "I love you, Jerry!" she said with passion and care. She gently pulled him towards her and kissed his forehead. Jerry then looked at her and kissed her on her cheek. Feeling good about it, he then went for her lips. Alyssa held Jerry as she kissed him back. She shed many tears as well. Jerry saw this and wiped her face. "No!" whispered Jerry. "Don't cry! Please, don't cry!" He then embraced her as she laid down. He kissed her more. Then he decided to go back to his bed. But she held his hand, "No! Don't go." She said. Jerry then held her hand. "I'm going to sleep." He said. "I'm also tired!" Then Alyssa looked at him. "Promise me two things, before I let your hand go!" said Alyssa. "Shoot!" said Jerry. "Promise me you won't leave me and from everyday onwards, you'll say you love me!" Jerry then looked at her in awe. He then kissed her again. "I promise!" said Jerry. "I love you!" "I love you too!" said Alyssa. Then Jerry went to sleep in his own bed. It was a sweet night for Jerry, as he realized love was back in his life, but sincere love. Michaela never treated him this way, as Alyssa had.

As they fell asleep, Priya and Arjun both came out of Jerry's holo-phone, as it was charging in the wireless charging range. Arjun smiled as he saw them sleeping. "He finally did it!" said Arjun. "He finally found love in the girl." Priya smiled as she looked at Arjun. "Yeah, you're right!" said Priya. "So, at least they know it's a sincere love!" Arjun then put his arms around Priya. "I don't know why, but I hope you're right about their love being sincere." He said. "In any relationship, there needs to be a mutual respect, understanding, sincerity, and love." Priya looked at him smiling. "It can't be one-sided, or no understanding nor sincerity at all. Otherwise, it just won't work." "You worry too much, Arjun!" said Priya. "This type of love, never happened before with Jerry. Even his ex-wife never treated him this way, the way Alyssa did." Arjun and Priya then hugged one another, before disappearing into the holo-phone. after tonight, it was clear that a new romance was about to begin.

Meanwhile on a military shuttle from Mars to Phobos...

Tango Galnac was on a USAMSSO-designated shuttle headed towards Phobos, Larkin and her team sat calmly, as the shuttle made its way towards the moon, at about eighty percent of the speed of light. "We really gonna do this boss?" said Rahul. "Betray one of our own?" "We are being compelled to do this, and unfortunately we need to keep the general out of the loop, regarding this matter." Larkin said. Luna then looked at Larkin. "So, how are we gonna handle Sullivan and the girl?" she said. Larkin then explained, "We will simply have to tell him what's going on, and we need to make it look as if we are truly turning him over to Miller!" Lance then shook his head. "Wow! Never thought I'd say this, but if the general finds out we're doing this, and if Miller finds out we're screwing him, then it's our asses twisting in the wind, not theirs!" said Lance, in concern. "Jesus, Lance! You sound just like my mother!" said Larkin. "I take your mother was very abusive, and that's why you mention her again and again!" said Luna. "There must be another way!" Then Larkin glared at all of them, "Another way would be that we do nothing and the citizens of Earth, will die from a cataclysmic event, caused by Miller himself!" said Larkin. "I told you, it's all part of the plan! I won't tell you the plan, as I'll explain it as we get there!" Then the team finally arrived at Phobos.

Larkin and her crew got out of the shuttle, then programmed it to be sent back to Mars, where it would be stored safely, until they summon it again. The group then found Cross Resort after a couple minutes of landing. "We need to find an elusive, secluded spot to camp for the night!" said Larkin. "In a few hours, Sullivan will wake up and we will have him!" They began to scout for locations to set up their camp. Rahul then pointed to the kitchen in the food court. "It's not much, but the food court closes at 2200, and the kitchen stays empty till next morning at 0800!" explained Rahul. "There are holographic surveillance strips, which I can alter in our favor!" Larkin then patted him on the back. "Good work, Rahul! It's our only choice given the circumstances, but we'll do it! Hoo-ah?" said Larkin. "Hoo-ah!" said everyone else.

They set up the camp as well as their own equipment, getting ready to rest well, before striking in the morning. The night went by, as Tango Galnac passed it in the kitchen. No one had even the slightest idea that four military officers, were camping out in the resort's food court kitchen. It was, however, their only choice, given the current situation and circumstances. Jerry and Alyssa were still sound asleep until 6:00 AM, when Jerry finally opened his eyes from waking up. For the first time in years, he felt relaxed and had such a great amount of sleep. It was the best sleep he had in ages. He looked at the holo-screen on his room's wall, and saw the daylight coming live from Houston. He smiled seeing this. "I miss home sometimes!" said Jerry. "Someday, I will visit again. But with Alyssa!" Jerry then went to freshen up in the bathroom. Alyssa also woke up, smiling as she did. Knowing very well that she had no regrets whatsoever for whatever took place last night. Jerry then got out after taking a shower and getting into new clothes. "Morning, sleepyhead!" said Jerry. "You alright now?" "More than ever!" said Alyssa. "More than ever!" He then sat by her in the bed, and the two kissed in passion. She kissed him as if she never could kiss another man. He also kissed her, knowing she had no issues with him doing so. "Let's go to the food court!" said Jerry. "I'm hungry!" Alyssa then got up. "Ditto, I also need breakfast!" she said. Jerry and Alyssa then got up to go get some breakfast, at the food court. They held each other's hands as they did. Tango Galnac woke up as well and very quietly removed their equipment, as they had only thirty minutes before the food court would open.
