Chapter Seven

I paced in the small hotel room, fuming. HOW THE HECK WAS I SUPPOSED TO GET TO LONDON IN MY HELLO KITTY PJ'S WITHOUT LOOKING LIKE A TOTAL NUT CASE?!

Yeah, there was no way.

Ethan sat on the couch, dumbfounded, eyes wide open. He seemed not to believe in the whole situation. He hadn't said one thing since Lucifer was gone, and had sat there, looking at empty space, while I was practically having a nervous breakdown.

At least we were in UK. It was better than nothing. But we were in Plymouth, which was at least a four hour drive from London! Without money, a vehicle and clothes I could hardly imagine us going anywhere, not even to a damn grocery store. So what about London? That was just... So Lucifer.

Then I stopped pacing.

"ADAM!" I exclaimed, feeling my stress and worry fade away as his face appeared in my mind.

Ethan looked up at me, startled by my outburst.

"What about him?" he asked, running his hand through his hair, as he usually did when he was nervous.

"We can ask ADAM to drive us to London!"

Ethan winced.

"You know he always expects a high prize for his services," he muttered, looking at me with serious eyes.

"And we have a priceless experience to provide him!" I said, feeling all bubbly with joy.

"What is this experience?" asked Ethan, looking doubtful.

"He'll meet Lucifer. This is an opportunity he would never refuse!"

"I don't know what would be so thrilling about meeting Lucifer," said Ethan stubbornly.

"You have to agree that Lucifer is one of a kind," I said.

"I think your opinion is biased for obvious emotional reasons," said Ethan teasingly. It was the first time he ever teased me about my love for Lucifer. Usually he would make bitter comments, so it surprised me and I stood frozen for a moment, before bursting out into laughter.

"Yeah, I have to say you've got a point there," I said, smiling.

"Okay..." Ethan said, and stood up reluctantly. "But you can't say I didn't warn you if I come back and announce that Adam isn't interested."

The phone rang the moment I saw Ethan, in the shape of a silver-furred cat, run out of the hotel's lobby.

I stared at it for a moment, knowing it was Lucifer, knowing he knew that Ethan was gone.

I raised the receiver to my ear.

"What do you want?" I asked, frustrated. If he was calling only to make fun of us, I wasn't in the mood to listen to his teasing.

All I wanted was to be in London already and to start working on what really mattered, aka catching the thing/person that's killing the Demons. So then, I can concentrate on what really matters to me, which is redeeming Lucifer.
