"Let go of me!" Todoroki shouted, ripping his arm out from his father's grip. He huffed, straightening out his shirt with a glare.

They were both outside of the front gates of Yuuei in which Endeavor had forcibly taken his son to. Todoroki had gotten an official recommendation from the school, but he had refused it without his fathers notice. He was probably the only reason he had got recommended in the first place.

His father was Endeavor, pro-hero known by all, who tried to get everything he wanted. Well, Todoroki wouldn't let him have this. He refused to follow his father's whims any longer, he would find his own path and own goals to strive for. Screw heroes, screw helping people, he wanted to do something else.

"Stop being so stubborn, Shoto," his father mumbled back, trying not to draw attention to them.

It wasn't hard, as there seemed to be an influx of kids coming into Yuuei. They didn't realize it, but today was the day of the entrance exams.

"No," Todoroki ground back."I'm not going to Yuuei. I don't want to be hero."

"You got recommended to go here. Don't pass up this opportunity, Shoto. All we have to do is talk to them and fix up this problem."

"There's nothing to fix," Todoroki growled back."I'm not going."

"Shoto!" Endeavor shouted back, pulling him back before he could cross the street to leave."You're strong! You were meant to be a hero! Stop trying to ruin my name!"

"Shut up! You're name doesn't matter to me at all!" Todoroki was yelling now, arms flailing wildly as he stressed his point."I refuse to be something I'm not!"

"You were made to be a hero, Shoto!" His father was now yelling back and neither cared to keep up appearances anymore in the heat of battle.

"No! I don't want to be a hero!" His hand slashed backwards and he moved to follow it, but he found he hit something hard instead.

Turning fully to see what it was, his eyes widened as he saw a man falling onto the ground before him, right into the street. His eyes widened in horror, whole body clenching up as his mouth slowly open to yell at the man, but the sound of a loud, jarring honk muted it, and he would never forget the look of pure fear on the mans face as a car rammed him head on.

There was a loud smash as his body flew, and Todoroki could feel the bits of blood and shrapnel hit his face likes bullets. His body refused to move even as people started screaming and yelling around him. Everything was drowned out except for the cold, dead stare the mans unconscious eyes were giving him.

"You did this," they screamed.

And Todoroki screamed right back.

Bakugo could barely listen to the doctor talking to him, ears ringing as the same sentences printed through his mind over and over again.

"If you aren't given the proper treatment, you may never be able to walk correctly again."

"Running..." Bakugo mumbled.

"What?" His mother questioned, half-hysteric as she turned to her son."What did you say, Katsuki?"

"Can I run?" Bakugo asked, voice louder this time."Will I be able to run again?" He looked at the doctor with wide, pleading eyes.

The doctor could barely look him in the eye."I'm sorry..."

"Fuck!" Bakugo screamed, ripping at his sheets, tearing his pillow apart and anything else that was in sight. His parents tried to calm him down but they knew it was impossible.

"Maybe in a few years, with enough care and physical therapy, you may be able to run again," the doctor tried.

"I don't have a few years!" Bakugo yelled back, trying to get up to strangle the damn doctor."I need them now! I need them working now!"

He fell onto the floor and a few nurses came in to pull him back on the bed. His parents tried to comfort him, but Bakugo couldn't see any of them anymore.

He was ruined.

Todoroki was nervous, pacing back and forth outside of the patients room. Bakugo Katsuki, that's who he was.

His family had offered to pay all the expenses on his behalf and the Bakugo family accepted with sour looks on their faces. The mother looked like she was ready to snap his father in half and slow cook him. If she saw him out here right now, she would probably do the same to him, but Todoroki just had to see him. He had to talk to the man that had so wordlessly promised him death.

Todoroki finally pulled himself together and slowly opened the door, peeking inside to find Bakugo sitting up in his bed looking out the window. He slipped fully inside, closing the door behind him as quietly as he could.

Stepping forward, he came in range of Bakugo who still hadn't moved."Um..." he cleared his throat, voice horse.

The man turned to him with those same eyes he had seen before."So it's you," he said resolutely."I was wondering if you would show up."

"Uh..." Todoroki stumbled."I'm Todoroki Sho-"

"If you're here to apologize or try and give me some fucking pity present, then leave," Bakugo growled back.

Todoroki paused, because what was he supposed to do now? Bakugo didn't want him, but he couldn't leave things as they were. But before he could speak, Bakugo's voice towered over his.

"You know, I was going to Yuuei that day to take the entrance exam. I was going to pass and become a hero," Bakugo mused, then glaring at Todoroki."Being a hero was my fucking dream. It's the only thing I lived for."

"I'm sor-"

"Shut the fuck up!"

And there were those eyes again. "You did this."

"Don't even try and apologize," Bakugo seethed."I can see right through you. You're disgusting."

Todoroki's eyes widened, because he knew that Bakugo had truly seen inside him. This accident wasn't his father fault, he couldn't go blaming him again and didn't want to. He wanted to take the blame. He wanted this to be all his fault.

Because with this accident, he would never have to go Yuuei or any hero school for that matter. He was free, and he couldn't help but be secretly overjoyed at the thought, even if he had hurt someone for such a miracle to happen.

"I'll follow you," Todoroki finally spoke resolutely."I'll provide you with anything you need. I'll do anything you want, so please overlook this."

"I don't want anything from you," Bakugo sneered back, watching with wrath filled eyes as Todoroki kneeled on the ground, head resting on the floor.

"I'll give you everything, Bakugo." He looked up at him, eyes filled with an irregular glee."Please let me follow you."

Because he had nothing left. Because he had no more path to follow. Because he was a lost little bird looking for a home.

"Go die a thousand deaths."

He needed Bakugo.
