There was a banging at the door, followed by some mad yelling that could only belong to one person. Bakugo begrudgingly got up to go answer, each step feeling like he was falling further into hell.
"Katsuki, hurry up and open the damn door already!" The pounding persisted."You damn brat!"
"I'm fucking coming, goddamnit!" Bakugo growled, throwing open the door to see that picture perfect smile on his moms face."Damn old hag..."
Mitsuki, now far older and littered with wrinkles, still had the same vitality she did in her youth. She was an angry fireball then and her anger only aged into a fine concoction.
Bakugo didn't feel as threatened by her, but he was still tense. His mother didn't know about Todoroki, certainly not that they were now living together, but the tell tale signs of another person were all there. Thankfully, his mother had given him notice before her arrive, something rare, so Bakugo could kick Todoroki out of the house before things got weird.
"God, how can you still live in such a trash bin?" his mother commented, peering around with that discerning eye of hers. Bakugo had cleaned up, at least.
"Shut up," Bakugo grumbled."You live your way I'll live mine."
"Your ways shitty."
"Damn old hag..."
Mitsuki swiftly smacked him in the back of the head, moving in further into the apartment and creakily finding a seat on one of the cushions on the floor, scooting herself under the kotatsu lying in the middle of the room.
"Make me some tea or something," she all but demanded."It's rude not to offer your guests drinks."
Bakugo grumbled back a few choice words, otherwise doing as she asked. Setting the drinks down on the kotetsu, he moved himself underneath it, right across from his mother. She fished inside her bag, pulling out a small bundle of tangerines and setting them in the middle of the kotetsu.
"Masaru bought you some tangerines," she said, pulling one out and beginning to peel it.
"I don't need them."
Mitsuki glared at him."Take them. Eating tangerines underneath the kotetsu is a given." She paused, finishing peeling the tangerine and popping one of the slices into her mouth."Masaru misses you, so this is the best he can do. Come back to the house some time."
"Next time I get some vacation days, I'll come over," Bakugo said back, taking a tangerines for himself.
"What, used them all up on that new boyfriend of yours?" Mitsuki snickered, Bakugo's eyes going wide and his visibly paused."Don't think I haven't noticed you're harboring a lover. Mother's intuition."
"Demon..."
"What did you say, you damn punk?!" Mitsuki shouted back."I outta clock you for talking to your mother with such disrespect!"
Bakugo clicked his tongue, looking to the side."I have a boyfriend." He guessed he could call Todoroki that by now."So what?"
"Well, what are they like? I want to-" Mitsuki paused, sniffing the air with a furrowed brow."Katsuki...why does it smell like smoke in here? Are you smoking? Your lungs will go black! I swear to god-!"
"I'm not smoking, what the hell?" Bakugo yelled back, hating how quickly his mother changed topics.
"Then is your boyfriend smoking? Smoking's no good, Katsuki! Tell him-"
"No one's smoking, Mom!" Bakugo snapped."It's probably just someone next door."
Mitsuki's eyes narrowed, but she otherwise gave in."Fine, but if I find out it was actually you!"
