Chapter Two: A Little Surprise

Toni's POV

Hay, naku. Another text from Paul. Siya ang umalis ng walang paalam. Naging kami for four years, ang tagal nun at to only find out now that we're broken up.

Walang nakakaalam kung hindi ang pamilya namin, at ngayon alam ni Sam. Bakit niya ako hinahanap kagabi? Ang dami niyang messages at missed call sa akin. Bakit kaya?

Today, wala akong trabraho. Free day! I've been longing for a day to rest.

"Anak? May bisita ka sa baba" sabi

Sino kaya? Buti naman naligo ako.

"Sam, ano ginagawa mo dito?" He gave me a kiss on the cheek, the usual, mabilis pero gentle.

Ngumiti siya, tapos sabay kami umupo, "I'm here to visit you and I was wondering kung pwede tayo lumabas?" he asked with his charming and boyish smile.

Lord, please help me. Wag mo akong ngitian ng ganyan Samuel, "Sabihan ko lang ang mommy"

"Naipagpaalam na kita" Sam said, ang bilis mo ah.

"Magbihis lang ako" I told as I went up the stairs, "San tayo pupunta?"

"Surprise" He said. Surprise, surprise ka jan Sam. Naku.

I changed, ok na kaya 'to? Bahala na talaga si Lord, at Batman.

Sam's POV

She looks great, I know she's wearing jeans and a simple graphic tee and flats but her simplicity is what makes her beautiful and sexy.

"You look great, ready?"

She nodded, "San ba tayo talaga pupunta?"

"Trust me" I hope she trusts me and I hope everything goes well as I planned it.

"Sam.. if we're going out as friends I'm okay with that but if you want something more out of this.. I can't--"

"It's a simple picnic, I want to catch up" I admitted to myself that I would consider this as our first date but I have to respect Toni. I do consider that she just got out of a relationship. I'm thankful but I know she's hurting. I made a promise to myself that this time around I'll be the one helping her mend her broken heart.

"Ok" She answered shortly, she was a little tired I can tell. I guess my surprise is coming along after all, go take a nap Tin. We'll be there when you wake up.

Writer's POV

Toni's eyes fluttered as she opened her eyes, trying to clear her vision, where was Sam? She asked herself, the man wasn't sitting on the driver's seat. All she sees is greenland, quiet, fresh air, and peaceful as she gets out of the car.

She began walking around the property, hopefully finding Sam. She tried to call him but his voice mail kicked in right away, "Sam, asan ka ba? At saan ba tayo?" she left a message.

Then a few moments later after she sat herself down on the grass floor, Sam comes swooning as he rides a beautiful horse. Toni stands up as he waited for him to get off his horse, "Saan ka nanggaling?!" she asked angrily.

"I went to get a horse for us to ride around" Sam explained, then Toni started to burst into tears, "Tin, what's wrong?" he asked as he comforted her by hugging her and kissing her forehead.

"Wag na wag mo akong iiwan ng walang paalam, promise me that!" She said as she pounded her fist to his chest.

He grabbed her first, "I promise to always come back to you, I promise" He promised as he hugged her again.

Sam wiped her tears, "Sam, nasaan ba tayo?" she asked as she looked around.

"Tagaytay" He answered with a smile.

"Ano?!"

"Don't worry, I talked to Tita Pinty and Tito Bonoy.. They know you've been in pain for some time now and they thought it's a good idea"

"Ginayuma mo ba mga magulang ko?"

"Hindi ah! Tara, may isa pa akong surprise para sayo"

Toni was hesitant at first but she decided to go ride the horse with Sam, "Sasabihin mo na ba sa akin kung saan tayo pupunta?"

"Hindi"

Toni growled, "Bakit?"

"Surprise nga di ba? Makulit ka din no"

Finally they reached their destination, "Kaninong bahay 'to?" Toni asked as she got off the horse.

"I'm renting it for the weekend" Sam told.

"Ano?! Paano yung photoshoot ko bukas? At may The Buzz pa ako sa Sunday, Sam!" Toni panicked, work was always her priority since her career started.

"Tin, close your eyes" Sam said gently as he wrapped a blindfold around her eyes.

"Samuel" she growled as they took small steps towards the door with Sam guiding her.

"Okay, we're here" He said as he removed her blindfold.

She waited for her eyes to adjust, "SURPRISE!" everyone yelled as they jumped out from their hiding spots.

Toni smiled from ear to ear, then she started cry. Sam gave her a worried look, "Happy tears, thank you" she said as she kissed his cheek.

Sam blushed, "You're welcome, and your parents are here, and Alex is too" he told as Toni's family approached them with hugs.

Bonoy, Dad of Toni pulled Sam aside, "Salamat Sam sa ginawa mo para sa anak ko"

"Walang anuman po, Tito" he smiled nervously, feeling intimidated by Toni's dad.

"Sam, nanliligaw ka ba ulit sa anak ko?" Bonoy asked him directly as he crossed his arms.

Sam gulped as if he had frog in his throat, "Kung papayagan niyo po ako, pero sa ngayon po sa tingin ko kailangan niya muna mag move on from Paul. Napaka-independent po ng anak niyo, you raised a very good daughter, Sir" Sam complimented.

"Pinapayagan kita, Sam. Take good care of my daughter when I'm not there to" Bonoy said as he smiled at Sam, this was a great moment for Sam, he couldn't help but smile because Toni's father trusted him, "Salamat ulit, Sam"

"Salamat din po" He told as Bonoy went to his daughter, little did they know Toni watched their conversation and it made her happy seeing them talk.
