I go to church with my parents this Sunday morning in high spirits,yeseterday was definitely a milestone for me. Jake isn't in church but Hayley and Tyler are and we speak at length after the service.

After the long talk, we go to classy restaurant to eat before heading home. I spend more than an hour trying to select an outfit for my date or whatever it is Jake and i are doing this afternoon.

I end up picking up a pale pink crop top and a faded pair of high waist jeans.I brush my hair back and hold it to a ponytail after which I apply some mascara to my lashes, I honestly don't feel like wearing much makeup plus I look like shit.

Barely few minutes after dressing up, the door bell rings

" Darling, Jake's here!" Mum says from downstairs

" Coming! " I yell back. I walk to the mirror and check my outfit again, now am regretting why I dressed so shabily like someone who is in mourning,this is what Jake has turned me to. Sighs! There isn't any time to start changing outfits so I quickly wear my perfume before heading downstairs.

Jake and i don't exchange much pleasantries and the drive to his place is pretty much quiet.
He ushers me in and I sit on the couch while he heads to the kitchen, he returns later with two glasses of juice

" Cranberry juice, just the way you like it " he says as he hands me the glass

" Thanks " I reply as I take the glass from him and sip, it's cold and enticing so I gulp down more content

We sit in an awkward silence for over five minutes, none of us saying a word

" So I didn't see you in church today " I say trying to break the silence

" Yeah, wasn't feeling up to it " he replies

" Oh " I say

He stands and moves towards the vanity, he returns later with what looks like a huge book

" Here " he hands me the book and I turn it, it's photo album

I open the leafy hard cover and flip through the pages. I don't even need to ask to recognize who these are, the album is filled with pictures of his childhood with Quinn and Tyler

" Quinn is like a brother to me, no he actually is my brother " he starts talking as I am so engrossed in the pictures

" We 've know each other since childhood, Quinn, Tyler and I. Back then people used to think that we were triplets,they called us the three musketeers " he paused and laughed a bit

" We were so inseparable. Just before Quinn turned 10 he had his first diagnosis of cancer, we all were scared and his parents had to take him out of Palmdale for his chemo, he didn't want anyone in Palmdale to see him in pain or feel sorry for him. Quinn is really a strong lad " he paused again

" When my parents would travel to go see him, I never went. I would abruptly refuse to go see him, not because I didn't care but because I was scared.Scared of what he 'd look like cause even at such a young age I knew that cancer was a horrible disease, one capable of changing one's appearance. At least I had witnessed that first hand. I was -" his voice cracked as he sniffled a bit.
