Meiko and Kaito wandered seemingly without aim through the many halls of the mansion.
The brunette held a bottle of sake. She had been drinking more and more of it lately, and it started to worry Kaito.
He cleared his throat, trying to gain Meiko's attention. "Um, where are we going?"
"You'll know where when we get there." Meiko slurred her words slightly and she looked back at Kaito to give him a large smile. "It's all fine."
"But I want to know now."
"Well, too bad, ice cream man. You ain't getting anything out of me." Meiko turned on her blue haired friend, eyes narrowed.
"It's pretty easy to just tell me where we're going." Kaito stood his ground.
Meiko huffed and resumed walking. "Figure it out yourself."
"But Meiko-"
"No buts." The woman took a large swig of her sake with a content sigh.
"C'mon. Tell me, please. Pretty please. Pretty, pretty please!" Kaito whined, which quickly turned to complaining. "My feet hurt and I'm tired! Can't we just go back to our rooms? Mrs. Ice Cream must be missing me...Meiko, are you ignoring me? Meiko, why'd you sto-"
"Shut up, I'm trying to see!" Meiko yelled, rubbing her eyes and blinking rapidly.
"I think you've had enough sake..." Kaito mumbled as he attempted to take the bottle from her.
"Get away from me! No one touches the sake. No one gets hurt." Meiko backs away from Kaito. "Go ahead alone. Sake needs me!" Then she ran back the way they had came, occasionally bumping into walls and furniture or tripping flat on her face.
Kaito stared after his friend with wide eyes.
"She's worse than you."
The blue haired man spun towards the voice. Rin stood there in pale blue pajamas, drinking noisily from a box of orange juice.
"Where were you guys going this late at night?" Rin yawned.
Kaito shrugged. "She dragged me out of my room and told me to follow her."
"Ah."
"Well..."
"G'night." Rin brushed past Kaito, following in Meiko's tracks, but in a much straighter line.
"Wait, why are you this far from the rooms?" Kaito hurried to his friend's side.
"I store my orange juice in kitchen 4. I think that's where Meiko was taking you, since all of her sake was there too." Rin shrugged. "I don't know though. She's weird when she drinks."
"Yeah..." Kaito trailed off and a comfortable silence settled over the two.
"This is my stop." Rin sighed when her bright orange door was less than an arm's length away. "Sweet, ice creamy dreams, Kaito."
"Always." Kaito smiled. "Orangey dreams."
Rin stuck her tongue out at him before she shut her door. He chuckled to himself. Kaito didn't get very far before he heard a shrill, girlish scream.
"Senpai! Don't cry!" Came the boyish voice that could be none other than Oliver.
Kaito didn't know whether he should go back to check on Rin or not.
And as it turned out, he didn't have to. Rin burst out of her room, followed by Oliver.
"Senpai, please. Don't make a scene." Oliver glanced at Kaito, blushing.
"What were you doing in my bed? And why were you shirtless?" Rin hissed, hands clenched at her sides.
"I-It's how I usually sleep." The boy shuffled his feet nervously.
"Rin, you shouldn't be so hard on him." Kaito approached the two younger people as if they were rabid animals.
The blonde girl sighed and massaged her temples. "Oliver...why have you harassed me for as long as you have?"
"It's because I love you, Senpai." Oliver cocked his head to the side.
Rin waved his words away. "I know that. You always say it. But...I'm asking you why, Oliver, not as your Senpai, but as your..." She hesitantly reached out to place her hand on his shoulder, "...friend."
Oliver's eye strayed to the hand she was touching him with.
Meanwhile, Kaito was slowly tiptoeing back to his room so as not to interrupt the moment between Rin and Oliver.
"Because I love you...Rin."
"You...you said my name." The blonde was shocked. He hadn't uttered her name since she was 12.
"Well, it is why. Are you happy now that I've told you?" Oliver beamed, obviously proud of his accomplishment.
"Um, I love you, too. Even though you've...followed me religiously for the past 4 years, you've still been one of my closest friends. It's easier to look past the weird things you do when I think of Before." Rin admitted, a blush rising to her cheeks.
Oliver's expression changed at the mention of Before. "Those were nice times, but we're older now. It's our job to take care of ourselves. Just because They had to leave, doesn't mean we can't still make the most of our lives in this mansion. It doesn't mean we can't teach Ryuto, Rana, and Yuki the ways to live and love in this world. Who knows, maybe one day we'll be able to leave more than one time a year."
Rin stared at Oliver, amazed. "I never...I never knew you felt that way about all this." She swallowed.
"I think a lot more than I say, Senpai!" Oliver was back to his cheery self. "And if you don't mind, I'd still like to stay in your room for the night. Al told me some scary stuff before he had to leave. I mean, if you don't want me to, I-"
"Shh, Oliver. It's fine. You don't need to explain yourself anymore." Rin took his hand and led him back into her room.
{I swear, this started out as a Meiko/Kaito thing, but I couldn't help myself >.< Rin and Oliver are so freaking cute together. I'm also really sorry for not updating until now...pwease forgive me! The first part was inspired by real events.}
