I changed into my usual shirts and jeans/shorts and left my room to eat breakfast downstairs. Looks like Daryl was already awake. I headed to the kitchen to find him, looking surprisingly sober.
"Morning."
"Morning sis. You don't look so well."
"Yeah, I didn't really sleep."
"Why?"
I hesitated about telling him the truth but I guess I could tell him stuff since he is my brother after all.
"I think someone is stalking me."
Daryl tried hard not to burst into laughter to avoid choking on the spoonful of cornflakes he just ate. He tried to retain himself but as soon as he swallowed his food he did laugh. Loud.
It was even hard for Daryl to to believe someone would stalk me. I suppose I really am a wallflower.
After a moment of glaring at him, he returned to his normal composure.
"Oh, you're not joking."
"Yeah... never mind." I retorted, rolling my eyes.
"Don't worry about it, (n). I'm going to make sure no one's gonna harm you." He grinned at me.
"Sure, I'd love to see you do that when you're high."
With that we made our way to school. The university wasn't too far from our home so it only took a couple of minutes to reach it. I have to say me and my brother are rather lucky to have a home this near to our college.
We moved here a several years ago after my dad got a promotion on his job. We used to live far from here and I can still remember how the rural life was compared to this urban environment. I have already gotten used to it but i can't deny the fact that I do miss the peace and quiet. After all, an introvert like me feels more home in a lonely area.
I haven't made any friends in this university despite being a sophomore. I only had one friend in my life and that was when I was really young, maybe around five so I can't really remember, but he left too. I never saw him again. Maybe there really is something wrong with me and that's why people don't like me.
Or he probably didn't even exist. I was so lonely, I created a friend of my own. But there was no need to dwell on the past any further. I have to get to my next class.
The university was rather big and it was easy to get lost when you're new but by now I have somewhat familiarized most of the parts here.
Visibly late, I made my way my classroom. I cautiously opened the door of the computer lab, careful not to disturb our teacher but he didn't notice me as everyone didn't.
I quietly slipped into my seat and copied the codes my teacher was writing on the board. I glanced around.
Beside me sat Catherine, one of the smartest students in this class. And not to mention, she was really pretty and social. Someone like her could be more easily stalked. I don't understand. What's so special about me?
Ugh, all these codes are so confusing. The only reason I selected Information Technology was because I love video games and that's about it. I'm not good at this whole programming stuff.
After what seemed like an eternity, the lecture and the teacher gave us a homework that required us to make a program. Upon being dismissed, I rushed out of the classroom.
I finished my classes late in the afternoon and studded home. It sure is tiring to be around so many people.
A feeling of paranoia flushed through me. What's going to happen next? Am I really being stalked? How far is he going to go? Was it even a he? Could it also be a she who is playing a prank on me?
I sat down and turned my PC on, to make my assignment or rather to see if I'm still being stalked. (And try to play the game of course).
I opened cleverbot in an attempt to make start a conversation.
"Hey." Just like yesterday.
"Hello. How are you?"
"I'm not fine."
"Why?"
"Because you're stalking me."
"I am not stalking you!"
"Yes you are. You know about me and you won't even tell me who you are."
"I already told you!"
"No you didn't!"
"I am cleverbot."
"Stop fucking around with me."
"You are using bad words :( "
Frustrated, I close the tab. Those are just automated answers. Don't need those.
Realizing I am wasting my time, I decided to start making my program. If I play first I might get hooked and forget about the homework.
It would be best to finish this early so I could start playing early. Although I have never been good with programming so it might take longer than I intention it to be. I started typing them.
So far, nothing out of the ordinary has happened. Maybe I was just being pranked? Yeah, I guess that's it.
I don't know why, I'm feeling relieved but rather lonely too. It's like there isn't really anything special about me at all.
Why am I being so gloomy? I should be thankful no one is stalking me. It's better than being sent dead bodies as gifts from a psychopath. Or would it?
Good lord, I had to concentrate on this. Why am I being so paranoid? Everything is fine. I can do this. I have to say though, developing business application is really boring. I wonder if I'll ever learn how to make games which had always been my dream: becoming a game developer.
After I finished typing, I compiled the project. It seems to compile. A relief left my heart and I realized I could play a lot sooner. I run the program to see if it outputs correctly.
The little box appeared as expected, but the text was unexpected.
"The counter resets"
What the fuck is this?
This was getting rather creepy. Wasn't this a passage of Ben or something? I was pretty sure it is...
I scanned through the codes and I knew I included nothing, absolutely nothing, that says the words "the counter resets". How on earth did this happen?
God, this is fucked up. I am so fucked. I don't know what to do. I still don't know if this is a mean prank or if my PC is really haunted.
I can't do anything about it so I have no choice but to pass this. I don't care what my teacher will say, if he scans through the code he will realize it has nothing to do with my codes.
I was about to upload my program file when I saw a folder that wasn't familiar to me. It was named "Web cam photos". I have a web cam but I never used it, let alone have ever taken pictures with it. Curious, I open the folder.
There were pictures of me changing this morning.
