Chapter 3

IM BACK! IM SO SORRY!! I've been REALLY busy with a trip in Chicago, finals, AND FAMILY STUFF!  WITH NO LAPTOP!!ANYWAY!!! ENJOY!!!!! ART IS NOT MINE

Keith started off the meeting by glancing at Mace's sleeping form before turning back to the team. The team gave each other puzzled looks, jumping when Keith slammed his hands on the console. "Does anyone know why you're here?" He snarled, staring each of the paladins down. Hunk cleared his throat, "w-why isn't Lance here?" The paladins then looked around and looked back at Keith, Allura voicing her opinion first. "Keith, has Lance done something of late? I know he's been annoying everyone." She laughed, like it was a joke. Mace chose that time to awaken and listened to everything, and padded over silently. The paladins smiled at him and called for him, stretching their hands out to pet him. What a surprise it was when Mace snapped his teeth at them and padded over to Keith, sitting next to him, like a loyal guard.

Keith laid his hand on Mace's head, the wolfix leaning into the touch with a purr. "Yes, but he hasn't annoyed me." This threw the paladins in a different direction than they thought. "W-what do you mean?..." Shiro asked carefully. Keith scoffed at him and Shiro paled, as did the others. "Lance has been neglected by everyone, BUT me lately, and you, Allura, are the worst of them all, snapping at Lance." Allura looked away in shame, "I-i just needed Mace more at the moment." She defended weakly. Keith scoffed again, getting his lecture ready.

"Ok, so i want to continue with, WHY?!" Keith snarled that last word, "He cares SO much about you and you just toss him off to see Mace?!" He said, his voice straining to remain calm. "I'll tell you why Mace and Lance don't get along. They do, VERY well." Keith states, "I was lying because i didn't want to betray Lance at the time." The paladins could only stare at Keith in amazement as he snarled at them, Mace taking a protective stance beside him. "Lance cares the most about Mace and was actually the one to bond me to him." "He and Mace spend most of their time in my room, training each other and Lance just making Mace feel like a pup again." Keith let out a calming breath, seeing the paladins looking at Mace in poor sympathy. "That's all i wanted to talk about." And with that finishing statement, Keith left, Mace trotting silently behind.

When they got back to Keith's room, Mace shifted into Lance. "Keith..." Lance started, choking up, "T-thank you, so so much." Keith quickly sped over to Lance's side, hugging him closely, "Lance, you're important to me in so many ways, to see the others just toss you aside to favor your other form?" Keith took another breath and pulled Lance closer, "I-it just isn't right, and i can't stand by and watch you hurt." Lance smiled and nuzzled into Keith's embrace, smiling gently, "thanks Keith."

After that, it got better, Lance was no longer ignored, and the team started seeing Lance as Keith saw him, their protector. But as always, good things can never last forever.

Hey pups!

I'm SO sorry i haven't been posting, i didn't have my laptop all winter break, and i had some family things to deal with, hence this ending, i originally had another more angsty ending in mind. But, my family's crisis made me think about it differently, so i gave you a classic Klance bonding moment. Get ready for next chapter

BTW I might not be able to post once a week anymore due to school picking up, but i'll TRY (Keyword: TRY) to get chapter 4 and MAYBE chapter 5 out by the end of this week and weekend.
