Once they were both laying down and comfortable, they started to talk about life, their future, anything they could think of. It was like an escape from reality for them, a distraction from the cold, awful reality they lived in. They trailed off into hard subjects, like their problems, or what hurt them the most. They would drift into happier topics, their favorite things, what got them through the day. They even talked about painful things, their parents' death, how they were both destroyed in any way possible... It was an interesting time, the world stopping for them as they conversed in the small room. Apple, as per usual, was quite aggressive towards her, not being very interested in what she had to say. She was a bit hurt by this, looking to the side.
"So, how about... I name an emotion, and you name the matching scale color!" Apple offers, sounding bored... "I don't see why not," Orchid pondered. "Ummm... happy, giggles and shit I guess..." He calls, waiting for a response. "Yellow!" Orchid chirrups happily... "...Anger?" Apple hesitantly asks, thinking before saying anything. "Red..." "How about... Fear?" "That would be white..." "And... When you're embarrassed?" "Lime green... Dark green when I'm sick..." "Got it... hmmm... Jealousy?" "Grey." "How about love?" "Normally a mix of pink and yellow..." "What are some others?" "Well, I turn orange when I'm thinking... Light blue when sad... Cyan when I'm remembering bad things... That's about it!" "Neato..."
After a while of sitting in silence, Apple reluctantly brings up a sore topic... "H-Hey... Orchid?" She perks up, looking up at him over the hammock side. "Yeah, what's up?" "Remember mom?" The words hit her like a truck, having never really dealing with her mother's death. "...... How could I forget? You know she was my favorite..." She softly whimpers, a small tear trailing off her cheek. "Probably because she only paid attention to you?" Apple presses, not feeling very guilty once he did. "... The way she loved everything... her constant hope, and love, and happiness... I always wondered how she put on a smile, even when it seemed nothing could ever get better..." More tears follow the first, her scales fading back to the cyan, light blue, and now small hints of pink... "Funny how you were her little snowflake, and she always thought you were more important than anything she was doing... crazy, wasn't it?" He softly chuckles sarcastically, wiping a tear from his eyes before letting out a long sigh...
"Well... What else should we talk about?" Apple mumbles, sounding bored. His tone is dull, and his feathers ruffled. Her scales turn a tangerine orange as she starts to ponder subjects, staring off into space. "Oh! I know! What's the craziest dream you've had?" She chirrups, turning a bright yellow. "I'd have to say... Having a family that loved and cared for me..." Orchid looks at Apple with a bewildered expression. ".... What?" Apple looks to the side, wiping a tear or two. "... Okay then..?" She mumbled under her breath with a chuckle...
