Chapter 17

Jayda

Thanksgiving was in two days and I forgot to get a plane ticket.

"Mommy I am so so so sorry. With all this work it completely slipped my mind even after you reminded me." I continued to cry on facetime. These past few days been rough for me and I've become an emotional wreck.

"Sweetie relax please. I hate to see mama's baby cry. You're okay because I'm okay." She continued to comfort me.

"I haven't seen you guys in for ever and I miss you." I sniffed looking up at the ceiling.

"I miss you too babygirl so much it hurts. How about next weekend I'll fly you out myself." She said and I nodded.

"That sound good?" She asked and I smiled as tears continued to leak.

"That's sound great." I agreed nodding my head.

"Okay I love you."

"I love you too mommy." I said as Dontae, Angel, and Trevon all walked in. I hated for them to see me like this so I quickly wiped my eyes dry and gave them a smile.

"Hey guys." I said.

"Shut up. What's wrong?" Angel walked to me leaning on my bed.

"What? Nothing's wrong." I tried to convince her but I barely convinced myself.

"Jayda." She dragged out and my bottom lip quivered as my eyes started watering again. Before I knew it I threw my arms on Angel and cried into her shoulder. She climbed into the bed with me and tried to calm me down.

"I-I didn't buy a ticket to go home and everyone is leaving me so I'm gonna be here all alone on Thanksgiving and...and" I couldn't get the rest of my words because saying that hurt even more. It was starting to sink in that I was going to spend the holidays alone eating a microwaveable tv dinner.

"Oh sugar it's okay." She rocked me as Trevon stepped forward and grabbed my hand.

"Come home with me." He said and I immediately disagreed.

"No I don't wanna intrude." I declined.

"I wasn't asking. I'm not letting my girlfriend spend Thanksgiving alone. My mom will be happy she's been dying to meet you for a while now anyway." He said making me cry harder.

"Whew and the power couple never seizes to amaze me." Angel said fanning her face making me laugh.

"Come on Donny let's give them privacy." Angel said hopping out the bed.

"Imma fuck you up Angel keep on callin me that."

"Boy you ain't go do sh-" She got cut off by the door closing behind her.

"Trevon this is a big step in our little 4 month relationship." I said wiping my tears away.

"I know it is but I'm willing to make that step because I love you." He said and I physically stopped breathing.

"W-what did you say?" I asked wanting him to repeat it.

"I love you Jayda Simmons. It was love at first sight, but I knew for sure the night you stayed up all night for me to help me with homework. You put my needs before yours." He said wiping a stray tear.

"I love you too." I said jumping on to him wrapping my legs around his waist. Using both hands, I grabbed his face and kissed him. I couldn't help but smile into the kiss because I haven't felt happy in a long time.

"Pack. We leave tomorrow at 4." I nodded my head and laid down on his shoulder.
