After the shift ends, Leigh drove herself and Jade to her friend's place. When they arrived there, Leigh introduced Jade to her friend, Sam. Then Jade and Sam talked for a while until finally Sam agrees to hired Jade. Sam told Jade that she can start working tomorrow after or before she works at a cafe, the schedule will be arranged later. After talking for awhile longer, Leigh and Jade went home and Leigh offered to drive Jade to her flat.
On the way to her flat, Jade checked her cellphone and saw 1 missed call from the same number. Jade unsure whether it was just prank or was there something serious? Finally she decided to call the number back. But when she tried to call back, the number cannot be reached. Jade rolled her eyes 'definitely prank call', she thought then she put the cellphone back into her pocket.
When she arrived in front the flat, she tried to open the door but it was locked, she frowned.
Perrie's pov
'It's almost dinner but Jade hasn't come home yet, usually she'll be home around 4 but she's late today. What happened? I hope nothing bad happened to her', I thought. I sat nervously while waiting for Jade to come home then I heard someone trying to open the door but they couldn't because I had locked it. I panicked and tried to find something I could use to defend myself. I found a baseball bat in Jade's room and decided to take it. I heard a knock on the door then I walked toward the door and asked "who's there?".
After knocking on the door Jade heard footsteps from inside and someone asked, "who's there?". Jade smiled at Perrie's voice.
"It's me Jade, open the door please", Jade said softly.
After hearing Jade's words, there was the sound of the door being unlocked and the door swung open and revealed perrie standing with a baseball bat in hand. After seeing that it was really Jade, Perrie put the bat away and immediately hugged Jade tightly. Jade hugged back.
Jade chuckled, "what was the baseball bat for?", Jade pointed to the bat. Perrie let go from the hug and blushed.
"Thought you were intruder or something", Perrie whispered.
Jade just chuckled then went inside and locked it behind while Perrie watching Jade to make sure Jade really locked the door.
Jade's pov
"I already cooked dinner, I hope you like spaghetti?", said Perrie.
I looked at her and nodded, "yeah I love it and thank you". Perrie smiled at me.
I excused myself to take a shower and change my clothes before dinner. When finished, I walked to the kitchen and saw Perrie already waiting for me. I sat opposite her then we started eating.
"Jade where were you?", Perrie asked suddenly.
I frowned, "uh work?", I said.
Perrie shook her head, "no, I meant you came home late and I was very worried. You usually will be home around 4".
I looked at Perrie whose face written with worry. I can't tell Perrie about my new job and the reason behind it because she will definitely feel guilty and volunteered to help me but I don't want her to work because she is pregnant now.
I cleared my throat, "Leigh needs some help earlier so I helped her, sorry I didn't tell you before", I explained. I made a mental note to buy Perrie cellphone later so she could contact me.
I honestly feel guilty of lying to Perrie but this is for the best. She smiled at me then we continued to eat dinner.
After dinner, I sat on the bed and checked there was 1 missed call still from the same number. I frowned. Finally I decided to block the number because it's definitely just a prank then I put my cellphone on the bedside table.
I lay on the bed for a while thinking about the unknown number. How does that person know my number? My mind thought the ways of possibilities but I waved it off, I saw Perrie enter the room and lie next to me. I felt she scoot closer and snuggled to me. I smiled. We stayed like that until we finally fell asleep.
I heard my cellphone ringing made me wake up from my sleep. I took it and looked at the screen and an unknown number appeared in the caller id. I was hesitant to answer. But finally I decided to answer it.
"Hello?" I asked.
The person in the other line was silent, until finally they said, "Jade ...".
I frowned, "how do you know my name? Who is this?", I asked curiously.
"This is not the perfect way to explain it to you. I wish you have time to meet me in person", he said.
I got up from the bed and walked out of the room quietly not wanting to wake up Perrie who sleeps soundly.
"Is this a joke? Because actually this is not the perfect time to ring someone either", I spat.
"This is not a joke Jade and I apologize for ringing you this late. If you willing to meet me in person, I'll explain everything later", he said.
I sighed, "just text me the details and I'll think about it", I said to him then hung up.
'I still have no idea who was that and what the explanation he need to tell me badly? Should I trust him to find out?' I groaned.
I walked back to room and saw Perrie sitting while rubbing her eyes. I smiled at her cuteness. I laid my body down on the bed.
"Why were you awake Jade?", she asked sleepily.
"It was nothing, let's go back to sleep", I told her.
She nodded her head then laid down again and started to sleep. I smiled at her then closed my eyes let sleep took over my body for the second time that night.
