Aspen

A week later and my parents still haven't said a word to me. Sometimes, before I step into a room, I can see my mother and father hold each other crying. I don't understand it but I guess they're scared to be under the same roof as me. Whatever, it's not like I'm their daughter or anything.

Today, I start school as a senior. Thankfully, I had enough credits from last year to help me pass junior year but I honestly wish I didn't even have to go to school. I know everyone knows about the incident thanks to my old 'friends'. When I heard my parents were going to send me away, I called my 'best friend' to help me but all she did was laugh in my face once I told her what happened. At first, she sounded really concerned that I was gone but I guess I wasn't anything but a joke to her. I don't doubt she told everyone that I was crazy.

I look myself in the mirror. I'm wearing a pair of leggings and a dark grey sweater with black and white Converse. It was simple, just like me. It wasn't like I had anyone to impress. Before I left, I put on some concealer, eyeliner, and mascara to finish my look. Grabbing my bag and phone, I left my house and made my way to school.

The school wasn't too far from my house so I didn't mind walking. The crisp air of the fall made my trip better as I was sweating or panting from the heat. All too soon, I was at school and to say it was different was an understatement. It seemed like the whole building got a makeover when I left.

Not wasting my time awing that the school, I went inside and to the office that, thankfully, never moved from its spot.

"I'm Aspen Johnson, I need to get my schedule," I said when the secretary asked what I needed.

Her face turned deadly pale at the mention of my name, and she quickly looked through the stacks of papers. I rolled my eyes, I'm nothing to be scared of but I'm guessing she heard about my incident. After snatching the papers out of her trembling hands, I stomp out of the office. I know I'm being rude but I'm pissed off. This is just the start and I know it's only downhill from here.

From there, I go to my first class not even bothering to find my locker because I won't use it. I sat down in the seat in the back corner and put my head down.
