(A/N): Hello and welcome to the first chapter of Hunter's Light. I apologize that it took so long to come out but here it is and I hope you enjoy, and as always I would love some feedback on any ideas of mistakes you find in my stories.
(Also feel free to punch me as this is much later than it should have been but I've been distracted by school work and playing games as I normally only work on this story from my phone when I have nothing else to do.)
But without any further ado, the first chapter of Hunter's Light.
_____________________________________"Guardian, guardian! Eyes up Guardian!" I open my eyes to by met by a little light. "It worked!.....you're alive! You don't know how long I've been looking for you." As this light is speaking, I begin trying to regain movement and feeling in my limbs, "I'm a ghost....actually, now I'm your Ghost, and you....well. You've been dead a long time. So, you're going to see a lot of things you wont understand."
It is now that I decide to take in my surroundings. The first and most obvious thing is that I seem to be laying on what I can only perceive to be the burnt wreckage of an old home. Looking down at my body I see that my clothes are completely ruined as they are riddled with holes, cuts, and scorch marks.
After a quick once over I begin trying to stand as the little light speaks once again, "This is fallen territory, we aren't safe here. I have to get you to the city, but you should scour the ruins of this house to see what you can find." Nodding at the 'ghost' I manage to stand and begin to regain feelings in my limbs. I finally walk over to the less damaged side of the room to a nightstand in very poor condition, on top of it lies a book with the cover displaying the words, "Journal Of a Wounded Wolf" Next to it was a knife stabbed into the wood of the nightstand, one that I feel I have a history with. After taking the knife and the journal I quickly scan the room for any more items of use.
"W-where am I?" I strain out after not using my voice for who knows how long.
"We are on the dragon continent, Earth, more specifically we are in Russia-" the 'ghost' is suddenly interrupted by a screech, "Fallen! We need to hurry! Grab what you can and get to the wall!" Running out of the room I come upon the burnt insides of what seems to be a kitchen and notice something shiny on the counter. "A gun, grab it! We need to go!" After grabbing the gun off the counter I notice it's lying on top of an old tattered cloak which I quickly don. With no time to inspect the gun, I grab the ammunition which was sitting beside the article of clothing and rush out the door.
"Which way?" I plead to the ghost as I inspect my surroundings though I quickly spot a tall gray wall in the distance behind the tree line, "Never mind..." and, without waiting for instructions, I dashed off towards it with gun and blade held firm and ready curious about the next step, "What comes next once we reach the wall?"
"The search begins" responds the ghost, "We are looking for a ship, capable of flying us to the Last City. Once we find that we can rest easy."
"And if we can't?" I counter.
"Then we are left with 2 options, keep running and try to get there on foot which would take around a month without any assistance, or we can hunker down and hope another guardian finds us before the fallen do." The ghost replied, "Now I don't know about you but-" The ghost was cut off by a fallen 'dreg' leaping into our path. Reacting quickly I lash out with the blade landing a blow to the beasts throat killing it instantly. Without losing momentum I spin and take in the surroundings to watch for the presence of more before continuing running to the wall.
"What the hell was that thing!?" I exclaim to the 'ghost' as we grow closer and closer to the wall.
"That was one of the fallen's lowest ranking members, a 'dreg' if you will, they are numerous and are the cannon fodder to the fallen. Don't underestimate them though as they can be rather tricky." The ghost explains, "I'm picking up multiple hostile life-forms back from where we killed that dreg, we should hurry it up if we don't want to be caught in the middle of them."
