Although Quentin and his kind are mudkip hybrids the official term for their race is kipling.
Quentin Aquarius was hatched in WaterCrest on March 27th. Both his parents were kiplings, and were the leaders of the Siren Protection Guard. They were both quite venerable and brave. Quentin's mother Aurora was the granddaughter of the founder of the SPG. And his father Jeremiah was the Guard's main captain. Even though they were busy, they always tried to make time for their son. Taking days off from work to just spend time with him. Every year on Quentin's birthday they would take a trip to Redland where they would spend the day together.
Quentin was homeschooled from preschool up until 3rd grade due to the fact that his parents were constantly on the move protecting the coast from sirens. Thus, Quentin never got the chance to properly interact with other children. This made him very oblivious to how others were feeling because he simply lacked the knowledge of how social interactions worked.
Since Quentin was home most of the time he took up some hobbies. Like painting, cooking, cleaning. But his favorite activity was playing with the numerous firecrackers and the small fireworks he had. He would even put on shows for his parents when they came back from a mission.
When Quentin was tired of being alone he would wander down to the SPG's headquarters and talk to the physician there. An old family friend named Mr. Jenkins. He was an old kipling who jumpstarted Quentin's love of biology and medicine. He was also Quentin's adopted grandfather.
One day, his parents had wished him goodbye as usual, giving him a small kiss on the forehead as a goodbye. Quentin had waved them goodbye and went back inside to work on a special fireworks show for them. One he had been planning got a few days now. Once the preparations were finished he eagerly waited by the window for their arrival.
It was getting dark. And there was still no sign of them. Quentin thought it might have been an extra hard mission so he went to go work on a painting he started the day prior.
Suddenly there was a knock at the door. Quentin's eyes lit up and ran to the front door and opened it without hesitation, expecting to see his family.
Instead a tall woman stood on the other side, a sorrowful look on her face. Her right hand was balled into a fist like it was holding something. Her piercing yellow eyes gazing towards the ground. Her hair seemed to taper off into what seemed like feathers.
Quentin was confused to say the least. The woman knelt down to his level and placed a gentle hand on his shoulder.
"I'm so sorry," she began, her voice soft and gentle. Almost motherly. She had stuck out her fist and handed Quentin a small turquoise necklace. It was his mother's.
"This was all I could get back," the woman said. She explained to Quentin what had happened that day.
While Quentin's parents were out on a mission a clan of sirens had attacked their squadron. Catching them completely off guard. One rogue siren had tried to stop the rest, however her efforts were fruitless. She was only able to get the leaders of the squadron to shore before they passed away. The woman asked to give her necklace to her son who lived in the house up on the northern hill.
Quentin could only look blankly at the woman as she told her story. His sight obscured by the small stream of tears running down his face. After a few moments his legs gave out from under him and he collapsed, the woman catching him before he hit the ground. He sat there for what seemed like forever. The tears never seemed to fade.
The days following didn't help with Quentin's situation either.
Quentin had no siblings and no other relatives to speak of. Mr. Jenkins had passed away a year prior so he had no where to go. So, Quentin was put into foster care.
Where he eventually ended up in Cadence. He was adopted by nice family of druids. He has an older sister now. And was enrolled into school for the first time.
Quentin's first day at school was horrifying for him. He shook harder than he ever had and cried in front of the class when he introduced himself. His tail was tucked between his legs the entire day. He was so scared. He went from having no classmates to having over 30. He wasn't able to squeak out a single word without crying that day.
He sat alone at lunch. No one wanted to sit next to the crying fish boy. He was weird. Why wouldn't he talk to anyone?
After lunch, he had another small breakdown. So a teacher assigned another student to show Quentin around the school so he could calm down.
That student's name was Ian Soliel. Ian had tried his best to make this new guy cheer up a bit, telling jokes and talking about video games. Quentin enjoyed his company and listened quietly to him.
The next day Quentin was sitting at lunch again, but this time, with Ian at his side. The two had become fast friends. Quentin had even start to break out of his shy mold and start to talk to Ian more.
Throughout his school life Ian would be Quentin's best and closest friend. In elementary, Ian was his only friend. But even after high school and into college they still stayed close. Although it was difficult. Considering how Ian went to an engineering school and Quentin went off to get his doctorate.
You know Ian was there for Quentin's graduation when he got his doctorate. This boi had a giant ass sign shouting Quentin's praises. Quentin was more embarrassed than he ever was, but nevertheless he was grateful he was there.
Today Quentin is still staying up late into the hours of the morning on 5 espresso shots, working on his medical passion. The true work ethic of a workaholic. Jerome had to force him to go to bed and station recruits training for night shifts outside Quentin's door. Just so he couldn't sneak out.
But when he's not working, he's either painting something or playing with fireworks.
But most of the time you'll find him by the beach. Sitting on the coastline, watching the waves, and thinking of them. All while the turquoise necklace is hanging around his neck.
A/N: There we have it. Q's backstory. Weeeeeeeeee. I wrote this at midnight on a Tuesday if you couldn't tell.
But hey! We now have an answer to whether Quentin is a siren! He isn't! :DDD
I'll write more about Ian and Quentin's relationship in school and stuff before the events of Stuck soonish. If ya want me to at least. Y'all can ask me to give you info about other stuff too if you want. I'm down for anything excluding Seto. Cause s p o i l e r s.
Anyways. Thanks for reading I hope you enjoyed.
