It's been eight years since we moved to Brookville. I still remember how five-year-old me was jumping up and down in pure happiness when my father was there in our new house waiting for us with open arms. I still remember how we stayed like a happy family.
But it didn't last long. Just as I predicted before moving. For three years we were like a perfect family. Only three years though. After those three years, dad stayed away for one reason or the other. It went like that for one year and six months. For the rest of the six months of that year, mum and dad were always fighting. Finally, in November they got divorced.
My mum already had a part-time job and she can easily and quickly adjust most of the time. So by the end of the year, we were stable. It is pretty impressive how she settled down with a good job with me. One day I want to be just like her.
Other than things at home things at school wasn't really good either. I was the new girl and all the kids already knew each other from the time they joined the school. Nobody wanted me in their little group of friends.
Well, that's until a girl came and invited to join her and her other two friends. I still remember that moment clearly.
"Hi!" a girl with silky brown hair and pretty green eyes greeted me.
"Hey" I replied to her shyly. She probably didn't notice the shyness in my tone or just ignored it and gestured towards a table with two boys sitting and eating there. "You can join us if u want."
They were probably her friends. And as if on cue they looked up from their food and saw us. Both of them had blue eyes and brown hair. Though one of the boys dark brown hair. The one with a lighter shade of brown hair smiled widely at me and waved. The other one just looked at me curiously.
"Sure" I can't say no to the only people who invited me in their group. "Great! And I'm Andrea by the way." with that, she took me to her friends and introduced me to them.
Till now we are all good friends. While Andrea is my best friend. Plus I like Marvin. He was the boy with dark brown hair. I think he likes me back. It could just be my imagination. Recently we have been sharing sweet moments.
Like that time he offered to walk me home. His house is on the other side of the town. while we were walking I asked him why he offered to walk me home today.
"Why are you doing this for me? You live on the other side of the town." I asked out of pure curiosity.
He just smiled at me and answered me simply. "You looked a little down today. I thought a little company would be nice." That was so sweet of him to do. And I was sad because I dropped my KitKat.
We talked about here and there all the way to my house.
Or the time when he offered me his KitKat
I came and sat in the only empty seat next to Andrea looking all sad and gloomy. "What's with the face?" Andrea asked nudging my shoulder with her own.
"There was no KitKat left for me." I replied pouting.
"Aww, Anne! I would have given you mine but I ate it." Clay said giving me some sympathy.
"You just made it worst." With that, I made a macking sad face.
"You can have mine if you want." Shocked by Marvins offer I looked at him blankly.
"Really?"
"Yes, now take it before I change my mind.
Enough has been said. I quickly snatched his KitKat and started munching on it. While I was at it Andrea and Clay were laughing and Marvin was smiling at me.
Well, these are some of the things. I also sing and found out that Marvin too has a really nice voice. I think he plays some instrument too. Although I didn't found what yet.
We four often hangout at the park around the corner. We usually run around and sit on rides cracking jokes. Overall we have lots and lots of fun. I always hope that we stay like thing always. Happy and having fun all the time.
As I said Andrea is my best friend now. I also told her about my not so tiny crush on Marvin when I was staying over. I still remember her reaction clearly.
"Andrea?" I called her sitting on her bed.
"Hmm?"
"I need to confess something."
By now I got her full attention as she abandoned her half polished toenails and open nail polish bottle. She looked at me and quirked an eyebrow in a questioning way.
"IHAVEACRUSHONMARVIN!"
"What?" Looks like I spoke too quickly. "And calm down and speak softly and slowly."
"I have a crush on Marvin."
"Oh C'mon! speak normally! Not too quietly that I can't understand." Looks like I spoke too softly. Oops?
I inhaled deeply and looked at Andrea who was giving me a concerned look. "Okay so," I looked anywhere other than her face. "I have a crush on Marvin."
To say she was shocked was an understatement. She was staring at me wide-eyed and her mouth agape. A whole minute passed and she was just staring at me blankly. "Andrea? Are you okay?"
"OH MY GOD!" She yelled out of nowhere because of which I jumped back on instinct resulting in me falling off of the bed. I groaned in pain from the ground. Trust me the ground was really, really hard. I would know.
We had spent the night chatting away. She did bring the topic of my crush on Marvin quiet often. But its nothing I can't handle.
To say the least, I think I got the best people to be my friends.
