Senior Oluchi!" I looked up to see a junior calling my name. She was panting and trying to catch her breath like she had just ran a mile.
"Yes? What's wrong." I said trying to be as calm as possible but I knew something was definitely wrong. I could feel it besides everyone was getting agitated.
"It's its... It's senior Nonso." I opened my eyes in shock, dropped the music sheets I was holding and ran out of the music room with my heart beating loudly. I'm positive the principal could hear it from her office. Okay I'm exaggerating but you know what I mean.
I got to the class and I saw people gathered round Nonso and he was struggling to breathe.
"Do you know where his inhaler is?" Inhaler? Wait! Nonso is asthmatic? Oh my goodness. Why didn't he tell me? I'm so going to kill him! Okay nows not the time.
I was basically panicking inside me. He sat down on his chair. His shirt was unbottened. The windows were open. I opened his bag to check for his inhaler; It wasn't there. A junior came into the class with four bottled water. They gave him the water to drink. He calmed down almost immediately.
"Okay you people should give him space. You all can go now. Oluchi stay with him. If it starts again, just tell a junior to call me." Our school nurse said. I nodded at her. Everyone left the classroom. Nonso's breathing had not yet stabilized; I moved towards him to hold his hand. The school had already called my mom to come pick him up so he could go to the hospital. He slept off about seven minutes later.
"Oluchi how is he?" My mum said walking towards us. "Nwam oh (my child) don't cry you hear? He'll be fine." She hugged me. I didn't even know I was crying till she touched my face. We helped him up and walked towards the school gate. I wasn't allowed to leave the school during school hours so I stopped at the gate while the gatemen assisted my mom in taking Nonso into the car.
I walked back to the music room absentmindedly. I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings. As I got towards my classroom, I bumped into someone. I looked up and saw Gabriel looking at me and smiling. I rolled my eyes and turned to walk away and he blocked me again.
I hissed. "Gabriel what is it?" I glared at him but he didn't move.
"I want you to help me do something please."
"No." I said glaring at him.
"Okay nah. You won't leave here today." He said smirking and folding his hands.
"Stop nah. Okay fine! What do you want?" I said rubbing my head.
"Can you help me talk to Uju? I really like her and if I tell her now, she'll think I want to play her. You know she listens to you alot." My lips that were pouting turned into a smile immediately.
"Awwn so sweet. I'll try. Can I go now?"
"Eh yes." He said scratching the back of his head. "Thank you." I nodded and walked to the music room.
Finally he has accepted. I can't wait to tell Uju jor lemme see what she'll say.
I went to meet Zainab who appeared to be in a heated conversation with Jeremy.
This one's should just start dating let everyone hear word biko! Its obvious they're beginning to catch feelings for each other.
Immediately Zainab saw me, she pushed Jeremy from the chair.
"Abeg Oluchi come and sit down let's do our thing." She didn't even care that Jeremy was glaring at her. I chuckled and went to sit beside her.
