Is that...... the sound of bells? Wait..... it has a familiar rhythm......Alarm Clock!!! I woke up, startled and confused. It took a few seconds for my brain to click into place. I'm home? But how? I tried to remember what happened, but it was all in vain. The memory after reaching the park was broken into fragments. I got off my bed and hissed slightly. I looked at my feet to see they were bandaged. What happened? A familiar yet strange voice echoes at the back of my head. Goodnight, Al. Al..... Only Sierra and Samuel called me by that nickname. But Sierra went out with her boyfriend for dinner after my appointment. I shouldn't get my hopes up. He should not know about my visits to the psychiatrist. I made them swear to tell him that I went for university work. Me having feelings for him does not change the fact that he has someone else in his heart.
I slapped my cheeks several times to get rid of those thoughts. Let me drown myself in work today to distract myself. I brushed, took a quick shower, changed my bandages and got ready for work. Right on cue, Sally the housekeeper walked in with fresh laundry. "Good morning, Young Miss. How was your sleep?", she chirped. "Oh, please don't call me Young Miss. And yes, I had a good sleep. Hey, do you know how I came home yesterday," I asked her. "Sorry, but I left early because I had to attend my child's dance performance", she replied, frowning. "Oh, that's alright", I said, looking at the wall clock. Shit, it's 8:50 am. Samuel usually has breakfast at this time. I quickly slipped into my black oxfords ant took my books and laptop, leaving Sally in my room.Samuel
"Young Master, the pictures of you carrying Young Miss is circulating the news. And Young Miss does not seem to remember the events of yesterday." "Block all the news. And tell all the servants to tell her if she asks about yesterday that she passed out from running and Lara brought her home." That way, I can find out about everything without her being suspicious of me.Alice
I peeped at the dining room from behind a freezing marble pillar. Good. He seems to have left. I made a cucumber and tomato sandwich, gorging it down in 30 seconds. I quickly gulped a glass of juice and left my used dishes at the basin. Sorry, Sally. I peeped around the staircase and hallway. The coast is clear. I made a mad dash for the door but a voice echoed out, "Where do you think you are going?" Shit. I slowly turned around to see Samuel in his business suit, with his hair combed back to perfection. Damn, he looks good! "Umm..... College?", I replied, making it sound more like a question. "But doesn't college start until 10:00 am?", he asked, his eyes narrowing in suspicion. Shit, shit. "Uh..... Lesson-lesson plan", I stuttered. Wow, Alice. Stuttering makes you believable. "Let me drop you", he said.My options:
1) Say no: That would be sheer stupidity. He can follow you by car.2) Change the topic and yell at him: That's so not gonna work. He will get even more suspicious.
3) Agree with him: That's not what I want to do. Plus it will be super awkward in the car.
4) Run for my car: I guess this is the most logical option. I can avoid talking to him and not be discovered.
Option 4) selected!
"See you later", I said, turning on my heel and making a mad dash for the car. I pulled my keys out and tried to open the car door but a hand pushed it shut. I turned around to see him caging me in his arms. "You think you can leave without answering my question?", he asked coldly. "Yes. It's my wish!", I said and tried to push him away. But he did not budge. He gripped my waist tightly and pulled my chin upwards to look into his cold aquamarine eyes, "You still think you have the right to make your own decisions? Don't forget, you are Mrs. Lin, my wife. And you have agreed to obey my every command, whether you like it or not", he said in a dark tone. "Let me go, Samuel", I shouted trying to squirm away from his death grip. Instead, he threw me over his shoulder and took my bag and laptop from me. "Let. Me. Go", I shouted, hitting my fists against his back, to no avail. He tossed me into the passenger seat and strapped me in. He got in the driver's seat and started up the car.
I plugged in my earphones and listened to songs, ignoring him. He got annoyed and ripped it out of my hands. "Hey! What is your problem?", I shouted. "Answer my question first", he said, without looking at me. "Ask the question first, dumbass", I said icily. "Why did you lie that you had college work and came home late for so many days?", he asked. Shit, shit, shit. "Because I actually have work", I said, looking outside the window. "Alright. Do your colleagues know about our marriage?", he asked. "I'd rather die than let them know you're my husband", I said, emphasising on you're. "Oh~ is that so?", he asked condescendingly. The nerve. "Yeah, Yeah. Now stop the car. We're here", I said. He promptly stopped and I got out of the car. I could see Lily and the others coming from a distance. They're early. And perfect cover! Suddenly a hand spun me around and a pair of soft lips collided with mine.
