System reboot: complete
Time to wake up, Alice."I-I-I've g-g-gotta go now. S-S-S-Samuel's waiting for me. Bye. See ya. Hehe..." I stuttered awkwardly, blushing scarlet. I turned around, picked my gown up and ran away as fast as my legs could carry me. That was the most uncomfortable moment I've ever been in. I reached the entrance and saw Samuel sitting on the marble staircase, waiting for me. His eyes were closed and his face was tilted towards the inky blue sky spangled with millions of stars. This smile is so genuine. It slows my raging heartbeat into a gentle sonata, putting me at ease. "Hey", I whispered, moving closer to him. He hummed in reply, keeping his eyes closed. "Shall we leave?", I asked, crouching near him. "Sit for some more time", he replied, opening his sapphire orbs.
"Fine", I huffed and sat next to him. He scooted closer to me, placing his right hand over my left hand. I thought that he did it by accident but he made no move to remove it. His warm, slender fingers toyed with my wedding ring playfully. Childish. I turned my gaze to the beautiful night sky before me. It reminds me of a song.
Starry, starry night
Paint your palette blue and gray
Look out on a summer's day
With eyes that know the darkness in my soul
Shadows on the hills
Sketch the trees and the daffodils
Catch the breeze and the winter chills
In colors on the snowy linen land
Now I understand what you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
How you tried to set them free
They would not listen, they did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now
Starry, starry night
Flaming flowers that brightly blaze
Swirling clouds in violet haze
Reflect in Vincent's eyes of china blue
Colors changing hue
Morning fields of amber grain
Weathered faces lined in pain
Are soothed beneath the artist's loving handSamuel
This song. So many years have passed since I heard her sing it. I turned to look at her. She was singing softly with her eyes closed, like as if the only thing that exists is her and that song. The serenity in her expression is contagious. I feel that I would like nothing better than to sit there and be intoxicated by the song. She would sing this song whenever I felt down before. Reminds me of that time......————————————————-————————————————-————————————————-————————————
"Hey, have you sung this song to anyone else?"
"No. Why?"
"Good. Promise me that you will sing this song only when I'm around. Nobody else can listen to you sing it."
"E-E-Eh?!!"
"Cause I love this song"
"Selfish"
"What did you say?" *intense dark aura from Samuel*
"No. Nothing. I'll sing this song only for you."

Her words that day made me feel so warm. But she's changed now. A hollow and calculating person. "Do you want to explain why you freaked out that time?", I asked, looking back at her. Alice, who was now looking at the sky, stiffened at the question. "..... Is it okay....... if I tell it to you...... some other time", she asked, fiddling with her fingers nervously. I'd better not press her for answers. I can still find out later on. My phone buzzed, breaking all the tension. 10.00 pm. "It's getting late. Let's go", I said, walking towards my car.
