All the sudden I felt a sharp needle go into my chest. "Its OK Emily, breath in and out, in and out" my doctor says. I tried using her technique but before I could let my fourth breath out, my head was spinning. I was seeing doubles of everyone. I looked down at my chest and I could see it swelling up. I hate this. Why is this happening? Before I knew it, I was seeing black. Just black, nothing more. It was like I closed my eyes and the only thing there was spirit. My concisousness was just floating through nothingness.

~ 10 minutes later ~

I was finally awakend by my doctor. "Emily, Its ok, It was just me starting you on chemo."

Chemo. I hate that word. I have never gone through something so painful. As painful as starting chemo, it is going to be more emotionally painful seening my hair go. One day I was perfectly fine, and the next, I am in the hospital getting informed that I have cancer. I slowly looked over at my mom. "Mom.. What am i supposed to tell Asa?" Right when I blinked, tears were streaming down my face. My mom walked over to me, touched my face gently and said "Everything. Tell him everything. He will understand." I blinked again. More tears. I am not telling Asa everything!! We just started dating and now I have to tell him I am getting treated for cancer?! Dr.Whitmore was still in the room checking my vitals while my mom and I were talking. "Hey, Dr.Whitmore, do you think you could just shave my head now so I dont have to go through actually losing it?" I wouldnt be able to deal with combing my hair and have it fall out. "Is that really want you want, Emily?" Dr.Whitmore asked like I was making a bad decision. "Yes." I said. She called in a nurse that had the razor in her hand. I looked over at my mom, blinked again, more tears. I could hear the razor doing its magic. After about one minute shaving, I touched my head. It was like my head finally had a chance to breath. I blinked again, tears were streaming down harder. I was there, sobbing on the bed while holding my hair in my hand. Dr.Whitmore made me take my medicine, and I was asleep in no time.

I was awakened by a text from Asa.

Hey how are you doing? I miss you. <3

I read the text and sat there for about two minutes, thinking about if I should respond or not. I finally gave myself the guts to and said:

Asa, If you are wanting to visit me while I am in here, I am just going to come out and say it, Dont. I dont want you seeing me like this and I just really need some rest. I will talk to you later. <3

Send.

"Mom, can I get a wig?" I dont want Asa seeing me like this. It would really break my heart to see him go because of me. "Of course."

I look at my phone

Asa: Emily, I dont care what you look like, the only thing I care about is your health.

Isnt every boy supposed to say that? I read the text and handed my phone to my mom.

"Dont let me use that for the time being."

11:10 AM

Asa: Hello? Emily?

12:15 PM

Asa: Emily, I want you to know that you dont have to worry about what I think of you.

1:00 PM

Asa: Emily please. I hope you are okay. I didnt ask you out to soon? Did I?

3:00 AM

Asa: I care about you Em. I dont want to see you ge hurt.

I woke up, again, by my doctors. Checking my vitals is annoying. I looked over at my mom to see if she was awake. Surely enough, she was.

"Hey Em, Asa texted you all night." She says.

"Dont let him find out."

REMINDER: If you are going through a hard time, remember to never give up and always stay strong. This chapter meant a lot to me because I know what it is like to be in the hospital, and it sucks. If you have anything that puts you in the hospital, stay strong. It will get better. I know, hospitals are a bitch, but just never

give up.
