I stare at Phoenix for a little bit watching as a fresh tear rolls down his face.

"I always mess things up" I hear him mumble to himself while he runs his hands through his golden locks. I sigh as it internally hurts me to see my mate upset. No , No bad Tegan. You can't have feelings for him. I turn back around to face Eddie,

"I'm gonna go to class" I tell him, I saw Titus walk Houstons' barely conscious form to towards the school nurse. Eddie hugs me once more before letting me go to class, I walk into my first hour math class. Math goes by quickly since I was thinking long and hard the whole time about my mate situation. The bell brings me out of my daze and I get up to go to my other morning classes. It seems all my classes are going by quickly cause soon enough it's lunch time. Not having much of an appetite I walk straight to the 'jock' table. Houston is already there chowing down on a burger. He must have heard me coming because his head snaps up and his eyes connect with mine, I smile at him and he grins back. My mood instantly lifts seeing him, I skip over to him and take a seat at his side.

" you okay?" he questions his smile faltering a little bit.

"mhm, I'm fine" I reply

"Good" Houston exclaims wrapping his arms around me and squeezing me till I could barely breath. I laugh histareicly only adding to my not being able to breath.

"h - Houston I can't breathe" I manage to say through my laughs. He lessens his grip on me and I suck in a big breath of air.

" Thank you for letting me breath" I nod to him and before I know what's happening his lips are squished up against mine. I rest my hands on his chest while he grips my waist with one hand and cups my face with the other, He pulls away but leaves his forhead on mine.

"I always come at the wrong times" Eddie complains from the other side of the table. I laugh and shrug at him while he shakes his head sadly.

"I'm mentally scarred, it's not good to watch your bestfriend suck faces with someone" He cringes.

"oh shutup, you would kiss your girlfriend. . . if ya know . . . had one" I try not to laugh at him. He glares at me.

"I don't need a girlfriend" he indicates.  I put my hands up in surrender, Eddie sticks his tongue out at me. All the other boys arrive at the table.

"Oh yeah, your okay right? Houston" I question looking up at Houston he gives me one stiff nod.

"Good" I half whisper. I look around and see phoenix no where in sight ; trying not to care, I grab Houstons' orange that he grabs every day but never eats. I peel it and start to eat the slices. After lunch we all split ways but Houston walks me to my locker so I can get my books for history. It sucks not having any classes with him.

I left the school right after I saw my mate run into the arms of another man. Having nowhere to really go I just park my car in the middle of a grassy field. 'She doesn't want us' my wolf wines. I'll admit the rejection hurts, and I mean HURTS like really bad. but at least she's happy even if it is with another guy. After sitting in the field for about an hour I decide to ask for a room in the pack house. This pack was my fall back pack incase I were to ever need to leave my own. Pulling out of the field I drive to the pack house, as soon as I open the door a perky blond is there to greet me.

"Hello, can I help you with anything" she smiles brightly at me.

"um I'd like to take up residence" I explain and she bobs her head enthusiastically.

"of course, you are already a member of the pack.  Correct? " she asks with another bright smile.

"yeah" I run my hand through my hair.

"okay, well what's your name sir" she walks over to a computer that's sitting on a large mahogany desk with little wolves carved into the front and sides.

"sir?" she looks back up at me.

"oh sorry, Phoenix Devri" I confirm and I see her quick intake of breath.

"u - um , o-okay s-sir. here's y-you're key" she stutters while dropping a bronze key into my hand.

"there's a scanner on the keyring too, it let's you in through the safety door" she points to another set of doors. there's a small scanning machine on the side. Who knew this pack had such tight security.  I nod at the girl before walking over to the scanner and putting the bright blue plastic in the slot.

" Phoenix Devri" the machine speaks robotically. The large metal doors make a clicking sound, I open them up and walk into the real part of the pack house; the doors make another loud click when they close. The pack house looks similar to my old one lots of rooms and four stories. She didn't tell me where my room is, I realize and I'm about to walk back to the door when my wolf speaks

'look at the key genius' I can practically see him rolling his big brown eyes. I bring the key up to my face and look at it, sure enough it reads Floor: 4 Room: 6. Fourth floor well I guess it's always good to get a workout even if it is four flights of stairs.
